America has a history of supporting illegally elected governments and dictatorships. Its all about the interest of America. So lets realize that America supports those who they will benefit from. Rather that be resources, strategic opportunity, or simply pressure. I am pretty sure that close ties between Georgia and US puts a hell of a lot of pressure on Russia. Imagine if US allied with all former Soviet states, that is a ton of pressure in my opinion. Its not like America has decided to support Georgia because they believe in dictatorship and evil, its because its in the best interest of our nations for one reason or another. Although there seem to always be blow back, it has worked for the past 50 years. Like they say, If its not broke, don't fix it.
