I hate to burst ur waste of time post..

but here it is:

Compromise is this; Kosovo is independent. Has a democratic Constitution that gives full guarantee to the Serb minority.

Move on.

Sorry...

The Republic of Kosovo institutions have compromised more than any EU nation would.
Well, there will definitely be blow back in the future. Look what happened when German land was taken. You can even take a look over at Israel for an example of the blow back that could take place. The fact is that Serbia has done nothing to lose their land, if it was Alaska, which is currently calling for independence from the United State, it wouldn't be acceptable. It would be an all out war if Russia sent troops to Alaska to help them gain independence. It should be internal affairs and NATO should stay out of it.

Same for Tibet and Taiwan, they are internal affairs and its not NATO or the US job to determine if those places are part of China or not. The same goes for Russia over in Georgia, its an internal affair of Georgia and Russia should stay out of it. The United States and NATO should not be creating an European Israel that will eventually have to go to war with Serbia. It is irresponsible. Its plain of simple, if the people in Kosovo don't like the way Serbia is ruling then they should move somewhere else because obviously the majority of Serbians have no problem with their government, otherwise, it would be overthrown. But, one group of people should not be able to overthrow the government with the help of outsiders when there is no dissent in other social groups in Serbia. The majority of Serbia is satisfied with their government and a minority should not be able to come in and undermine Serbian land with the help of NATO without proof of genocide.

We've been around this many many times on these boards.

But Milsovic really brought the bombings on Yugoslavia. He'd been specifically warned about Kosovo after Bosnia. etc etc. Certainly "done nothing" isn't a reasonable position. "Didn't do enough" you could at least argue.

Also comparing the "blowblack" you expect Serbia to provide to the third reich is not the best of moves.

At any rate the deal came out raw for Serbia. But it sounds like your side could have gotten something "more than autonomoy, less than independence" out of the Ahtisaari plan. Specificially it would have given them independence in function but not in terminology. But you turned that down cold. Wanting to be sure your military would hold sway over the Albanians.

So don't pretend that only independence was offered.

why cant serbia take care of itself first, be a champion of democracy and human rights? have a high treaty upholding and show economical omph. that way not only kosovo but the rest of yugoslavia would be tempted to join back???

I can give you the answers, because the greater serbian plan witch achived all for serbs and death to all got widely busted by the same people who dreamt that by manipulating public opinion they can steal land.

i agree that talks should be held but not on status but on co-operation. Serbia is a landlocked country, Kosovo can utilise a port by the south west in albania.

Given all the extra things that the serbians are offering today only 2% are genuine, they do not care about kosovo, but its the only way the serbian government formed and falls. to the best of serbias good will to negotiate there can be no sweeter deal to kosovo than to part from years of abuse that started with annexation. The price for freedom is much higher than the price of goods or services. while Kosovo is sorounded by three technicly identical countries Slavic Serbo-Croatian orthodoxes, Serbia only has one Albanian country as a border. Awarding kosovo back to Serbia would be equal to giving Illiricum to France and Poland to Nazi germany.

Why do all you liberals think that you can find a compromise with everyone?
Serbia: countless wars, still not abiding by the teatys they have signed (eg: Hague)

What has anyone see from the serbian side that would make them think they have changed? The killing of a UN peace keeper by molotovs granades and automatic machine gun? Or the burning of flags, vowing death to kosovars and the countless hate that has been going on for years, that has started since the independence in 1836 by russian sponsor.

Please someone give me an answer for why does serbia deserve it.
if it is for their holy land and saving christianity thats a lot of BS.

UNMIK: Kosovo status resolved, time to integrate

Wednesday, 09 July 2008

" Asked by local Serbs whether UNMIK chief will be initiating more negotiations regarding the status of Kosovo, Zannier stated that "Kosovo's status is resolved and negotiations regarding this issue are over. We have a new reality. A democratic government and a constitution. Integration and participation in the Kosovo insitutions could have a positive effect on every citizen, which is going to be my main mission during this transition process of UNMIK reconfiguration." "

The sooner the Serbs come into grip with the reality, the better it'll be for them.
