Both Sides in Kosovo Agree Partition is Bad Idea
By: iStockAnalyst Monday, July 14, 2008 5:54 PM Excerpt from report by Serbian privately-owned TV Pink [Presenter] Serbs and Albanians have been living side by side in Kosovo for years, but leading separate lives. The idea of partitioning Kosovo is not a novelty for either the international community or some circles in Belgrade and Pristina. Pink TV has explored how some officials react at the mention of the word partition. [Reporter] There is something everyone keeps quiet about, but also something everyone thinks about, and even discusses it in secrecy - partition of Kosovo, of course. [Serbian Renewal Movement's Kosovo branch head Randjel Nojkic] Partition of Kosovo-Metohija is underway, although everyone is denying it. [Passage omitted: words indistinct] [Unidentified UN Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo, or UNMIK, official] Partition is unacceptable. [Analyst Ilir Deda] That would be the most dreadful thing which could happen to both sides. [Serb List for Kosovo-Metohija leader Oliver Ivanovic] That is not Serbia's official policy, not as far as I am aware. [Reporter] There are indications that partition of Kosovo is being discussed by certain circles in the international community, Belgrade and even Pristina, as a way out of their own failures. [Unidentified UNMIK official] We do not deal with insinuations, we deal with official policies. Then again, the entire Contact Group, all the principle players, have agreed that partition is not an answer here in Kosovo. [Assembly of Union of Municipalities of Kosovo-Metohija Autonomous Province Deputy Speaker Marko Jaksic] A political circle in Belgrade, so to speak, headed by [prominent writer, former Yugoslav President] Dobrica Cosic, advocates partition of Kosovo. [Deda] Should Kosovo be partitioned, then two monoethnic entities will be created. [Ivanovic] I am afraid that then someone allegedly pragmatic could then suggest that a solution like partition could calm the situation down. [Reporter] Everyone agrees that such a solution would be bad for both sides. [Jaksic] I think it is very dangerous. [Ivanovic] There would be no peace, and that means that there would be no economic development. [Deda] Partition would definitely create two fascistic societies and it is a fascistic project. [Unidentified UNMIK official] It is very important that it is one political space, that is something UNMIK will continue to maintain under UN Security Council Resolution 1244. [Reporter] Serbs living south of the Ibar River fear that, if the EU mission [EULEX] fails, Americans could take control in spring, who would then verify the current state of affairs, which could prompt new migrations, and even regional upsets. Kosovo "leadership" and their American masters should reconsider partitioning as a way of diplomatic and peaceful solution to the Kosovo crisis. But if they are two stubborn now, perhaps we will be stubborn as well after our position gets strong enough. Last edited by AmusedToDeath; 07-15-2008 at 06:09 AM. |

And less credibility on you. I'll see you in a few decades. And I hope we won't have to send you back to Anadolia. You will learn to play nice, in due time. |

Actions speak louder than words. I am no Milosevic. Payback hurts, doesnt it? But we play it nice. Don't worry...you wont be chopped up or shot at like Serbians did to Albanians. You have a right to live---unfortunatelly [coming from my opinion that is]. You, on the other hand, lack credibility. Just look at your past posts. You are welcome to come visit Kosova. It's a beautiful country! Tourists from all over the world are welcome.
