It is shocking indeed... However, I believe this is some God forbidden prison, who knows where, perhaps with serial killers, rapists and who knows... Anyway, their criminal "status" surely does not approve such behavior by the guards.

I don't think this is common for all Russian prisons.

But, if you look it the other way, if the guards don't beat them they'll beat and perhaps kill each other for "power" within the prison.

However, as I've said, such behavior should not be tolerated. But as Russia slowly evolves as a democracy, these incidents will start to diminish.

It is no good trying to lessen the abuse shown, by way of it being only on a Prisoner (possibly a violent type)

Because Russia doesn't even have an independent Judicuary! - so those same prisoners shown in that video could have been imprisoned for political decent or even writting anti-Government articles!

Read this to see what I mean :

Quote:
The Russian authorities were increasingly intolerant of dissent or criticism, branding it ‘unpatriotic’. A crackdown on civil and political rights was evident throughout the year and in particular during the run-up to the State Duma (parliament) elections in December. Given the strict state control of TV and other media, demonstrations were the flashpoint during the year for political protests, with police detaining demonstrators, journalists, and human rights activists, some of whom were beaten. Activists and political opponents of the government were also subjected to administrative detention
Source : Amnesty International Report 2008.

The 'slowly evolving Russian Democrcay' should evolve a bit faster and in the right direction! Which "increasingly intolerant of dissent" doesn't sound like the right direction to me!!

Its not the same thing to hold an election and call yourself a modern Democracy.

I really do hope the Russian people get a decent system one day - they deserve it!

I just point out what I see is currently wrong - time will tell ......

All nations and countries have such subhuman.

http://www.military.com/NewsContent/...tml?ESRC=eb.nl

FORT HOOD, Texas - Army Pfc. Lynndie England, who said she was only trying to please her soldier boyfriend when she took part in detainee abuse at Iraq's Abu Ghraib prison, was sentenced late Tuesday to three years behind bars.

England's sentencing wrapped up the last of nine courts-martial of low-level soldiers charged in the scandal, which severely damaged America's image in the Muslim world and tarnished the U.S. military at home and abroad.
.....................................

And I think woman-subhuman compromises nation much more than man-subhuman.

You are right.
But how can you be sure about you country as Totalitarian as Russia or not.
How can you be sure that US government stands for US national interests in Kosovo, Iraq and does not uphold interests of richest people (organ traffic Kosovo - USA, drug traffic, etc.)
You have opinion common for all US citizens that you have freedom.
It is ostensible freedom. Best Totalitarianism is inconspicuous Totalitarianism.

Wrong - This is the Russian & E. European section and it is an important topic for all to discuss.

I understand that Serbs police only beatup Albanians and Kosovons citizens - but these Russian police - even attack their own people!

I would like all to dicuss why this happens so often in Russia! -

I suspect it is because it is a totalitarian state without freedom of press and without an Independent Judicary - so these kind of human rights abuses are common place everyday in Russia.

Watch this video for more evidence :

See how the the innocent chap sitting down watching all the police brutality around him, presents some ID to the oficer and is immediately and without question struck in the face and knocked down by the thug Russian police.

These are the same police that prevent peacful demonstrations against the totalitarian government of Russia.

lets face it Russia is a very corrupt place at the moment - and not a safe place for anyone to visit or do any kind of business.

In Russia they don't hold human life with the same high value as we do in Scotland!
