I hate to say Putin is more credible than our own administration, but the fact is that the credibility of Bush and his minions is so shredded that even an ex-KGB agent looks more credible. I'm sure Bush has ten TIMES as many falsehoods as Putin has. The spokespeople of his administration have this pattern of responding with charges of lying even when the person is telling 100 percent truth. So just the fact you get that response out of one of his talking mouths adds credibility to the charges against them.
