As such the Russian's did not 'submit' to Mongol's - it was more of the problem of uniting the different states of the then not yet allied "Russia". It was not until the unifications of all these smaller states into the 'Velikaya Ryus' (coincidently in the now known region of Ukraine), when the Russian's could pull a seizable army to withstand them. Same applies to Bolsheviks - although this time it was more of a coup by the lower classes and various propoganda drives. |

l and d Your absoluely wrong. It is not 'Velikaya Ryus' !! What you are taking about is Russia and that is 'Velikaya Roccia' or greater Russia.
Velikiy Rus is the ancient name of Ukraine and Rus was not and is not Rocia. Tranlslators and dishonest Russian make belive historians have coopted the name of Rus and they started using Russia instead of Roccia. If you are honest you will admitt that what he wsst calls Russia is realy pronounced ROCCIA. TRY it Ro see ah Your real name was Moskailshchina and you should have been called Moskals as good Ukrainians call you.....

First, before Rus' was never called 'Velikaya'. It was just Rus', today it's called Ancient Rus'. Second, no matter how hard for cross-ocean ukes to accept it, Ukraine has nothing to do with Ancient Rus', as state vs state. Yes, genetically Ukrainians are as close to people of Ancient Rus', as Russians and Belorussians are. But their language has gone as far away from Ancient Russian, as modern Russian and Belorussian, if not further, due to heavy western influence.

"The name "Russia," together with the Finnish Ruotsi and Estonian Rootsi, are found by some scholars to be related to Roslagen. The meaning of Rus is debated, and other schools of thought connect the name with Slavic or Persian roots. (See Etymology of Rus and derivatives).
Kievan Rus', the first East Slavic state, emerged in the 9th century along the Dnieper River valley. A coordinated group of princely states with a common interest in maintaining trade along the river routes, Kievan Rus' controlled the trade route for furs, wax, and slaves between Scandinavia and the Byzantine Empire along the Dnieper River. By the end of the 10th century the Norse minority had merged with the Slavic population." -Wiki Although Kievan Rus' was called Velikaya Rus' in certain history books. |
