I think the OP saw articles like this Microsoft Readies to Drop Windows Vista Price by 50% in China and got so excited they stopped reading after "Vista".

Personally I've been a Microsoft user for about 15 years +. Mainly because that's my job. If my company will keep paying me to do things using Microsoft based products, I'll keep using Microsoft based products.

I use Vista, XP, Server 2003, and OSX at home (yes, I'm a geek) and I find that each on has it's plusses and minuses. I haven't really seen anything out of Vista that makes me think it's any worse than some of the other products they've released. (ME or *shudder* BOB anyone?)

For all the problems with Vista, I've really been impressed with Server 2k8

I used to pirate windows when I was younger. But I bought Vista (actually two copies so far...a stand alone version and the copy that came with my new computer). Vista's interface is prettier than OSX (it is truely 3D). XP is more stable only because it is more mature. Vista will mature too.

yeah, i havent seen anything about vista actually being dropped. and i searched. thatd be big news.

in the future, if you want windows but dont wanna pay, get a copy of the cd and a key, if the keys rejected, just follow the prompts and call and speak to a rep, tell em it came with your pc and its not on another of your pcs, and they will give you a legit key to use, no hassle. takes only a few mins, ive done it numerous times.

Yeah, but Mac people always come back with "yeah but you can buy 3rd party mice that have right click functions".

Sorry, but its not the same. Having a right-click menu available at the OS level is just something I couldnt give up. It would be like using a mouse without a scroll wheel...its possible, but extremely annoying.

What exactly is it everyone is having problems with? Vista is definitely not broken the way ME was. There were driver issues early on, but those have been mostly resolved by now.

You get what you pay for. There's a very good reason Linux is not popular despite the fact that it is free.

It actually isn't an inconvenience once you are used to it. It is 2 buttons instead of one. And I believe that the newest macs have them now.

How many of you here use Vista?

How much will ANOTHER operating system cost you?

I have a name for Windows .......call it 'Anchor', you could use it as one.

The reason software folks don't want to work for MicroS**t:
1) The place is a velvet sweatshop (used to know someone who worked there)
2) Seattle (Redmond) area doesn't have the best weather, Silicon Valley's is much better

Congratulations on seeing the light and coming over from the Dark Side. I've been a Mac user since the Mac Plus.

All you have to do is turn on the news from time to time or with all those computers do a search, OH you search with a Microsoft product, I bet they screen the negatives towards themselves out. Here's one.
