This is made by a bunch of smart people from MIT. It produces more than twice as much as the current towers.
What do you all think? Bigger step in the right direction or just a huge aviation hazard?

Yes! I've been looking at this stuff too. Joby, Magenn, Makani all have developed uniquely different concepts to harness high altitude wind energy. The real breakthrough compared to conventional tower wind-turbines is that wind gusts up high are much more powerful and more sustained.
