Default Time to go home?

After the student riots last year against the US military presence, I think it might be time to pack our crap up and hit the road.

I don't think the South Korean government would approve of your ever generous offer of a multinational force deployed at their border.
This threat from North Korea concerns the entire world not just the US and NK's neighbors. To allow a UN force to protect from aggression in hopes of stopping the spread of nuclear proliferation makes sense.

Besides the fact I doubt the South Korean government would support this, how would you get a UN resolution for peacekeepers on the 38th parallel?
"We need them there because the North Koreans are inherently evil"?
There has been no new sign of threat since the uneasy ceasefire was signed.

Default This is discrimination...

Every post I have made on the Current Events board has been moved.

This board is a graveyard, and frankly this should remain on the Current Events board considering it is a ongoing affair.

Default well then

The South Korean military relies on conscription, so does the North Korean military.
So, conscript versus conscript?
I personally don't think that either nation would emerge as a victor. Any conflict would turn into a drawn out geurilla war. Neither side would dare to move through the DMZ anyways, and as said previously the 38th Parallel is the most heavily defended area of land in the world. More than enough landmines, explosives, bunkers and artillery to protect either side.

It would seem like a tie, but in reality... The North Korean military is much larger, and "better" (if that word can be used) deployed at the border, than the American and South Korean counterparts. If I remember right, they have rather recently discovered tunnels which would be ostensibly used by the NK army to circle and annialate the frontier defenders. Presumably, the front lines would be pierced, with heavy allied (lets call the ROK and US forces that shall we?) loses and of course mind boggling NK deaths. Then the tide turns. The SK army is much, much, much better equipped than their demoralized Northern counterpart, and alone it would seem likely that the SK army could defeat the NK's, if the US is added to this calculation. Hehe, one Korea left.

Just my two cents... *walks away whistling*
