You're asking for way to much personal information, Mike. Only a couple of our posters are currently in the military.

I know a guy named Greg who joined the marines (infantry) 3 years ago out of high school. He's been to Iraq, as well as Japan, Singapore and a few other places. He's headed to Hawaii to finish out his remaining 1 year obligation (pretty rough, huh?).

He joined for several reasons. A chance to see the world, patriotism, a general admiration of the military, a chance to save for college. He looked at his prospects and the Marines was what he wanted. Now, he plans on seeing Europe before coming home to go to college.

Not trying to ask any personal information, just trying to get some people who have been in the military. I am planning to get a September 11, 2001 5 year memory this year, but it is a lot of planning and a lot of time.

The purpose of this was to congradulate and spotlight our service men.

By the way, my father is a Staff Sergeant for the US military. He served from 1985 to 1992, and then from 2004 to 2006. He has served a ten month tour in Iraq and is currently under way to serve another eighteen month tour.

Why only the U.S. military? Don't we care about those from other countries who have served?

If you actually read my second post on this subject, you would know why. Once again, I am doing a report on the five years since September 11, 2001. This concerns the US military in the War on Terrorism, also. So, it would be a complete moot point to add France's army in this report. Please read.

i know someone in the military.......but in intelligence section,highly classified unit......so...and he's there because israel has a permenent draft/

If you are just congradulating and spot lighting only the U.S. service men because you simply don't care about the sacrifices of others, then thats fine with me. It wouldn't be a surprise, alot of times Americans think that their armed forces are the only ones fighting for freedom, when they may actually be undermining it to a certain extent.

Since you have provided no explanation for your reasoning, we can only assume this is the case.
