US missile shield for Mideast threat, Bush tells Russia's Putin

Mar 28 04:39 PM US/Eastern

President George W. Bush told Russian President Vladimir Putin Wednesday that a planned US missile shield in Europe is to defend against Middle East threats, the White House said.
"President Bush emphasized that missile defenses in Europe are intended to protect against the evolving ballistic missile threat from the Middle East -- a threat that we share in common with Europe and Russia," said White House spokesman Gordon Johndroe.

The United States is currently concerned about Iran's ballistic missiles.

In what was a "thorough and open" phone conversation initiated by the White House, according to the Kremlin, the two men discussed their differences over the missile defense plans and the fate of the Serbian province of Kosovo.

They also covered the Iranian nuclear standoff, especially the recent UN resolution aimed at increasing pressure on Tehran, the Kremlin said.
There's more, but that's the gist of it. I guess Iran will need to find a better way to deliver their nuclear payloads now, right? I'm sure the Russians and Europeans within range of Iranian ballistic missiles aren't very concerned with Iran's progress in the nuclear realm. They're content to let the UN take care of them. (What a warm fuzzy feeling that must engender)

I wonder how long until they jump at this.

Russia against accommodation of the American antiballistic missiles in Poland and Czechoslovakia!
1. We do not trust Americans, which only lie to us!
2. In case of operation of this American system to Iranian ballistic missiles will be brought down above territory of Russia. Nuclear splinters of Iranian ballistic missiles will fall to territory of Russia!

Yeha unlike Russia which lies to everyone, including their own people. But unlike russians, Americans still have systems in place to expose our govt from lying to us (like journalists and opposition parties). Anyone speaking too loudly against the Russia rulers tend to fall from buildings and die from radiation poisoning.

Really? Putin said lies to people about the weapon of mass defeat at Iraq, instead of Bush? Unless Martin Luther King or John Kennedi have killed in Russia?

If you write about Alexander Litvinenko where proofs, what the government of Russia to it is involved? And in Russia nobody heard precisely voices of this fine swindler Litvinenko. Especially after he has accused Putin of participation to 9/11.

We have the same right to safety, as well as Americans. Russia against anybody did not use the nuclear weapon. The USA have used the nuclear weapon against not military people in Japan!

Russia will not start the first nuclear attack to the USA. Russia is afraid of occurrence of illusions in the USA concerning security from the Russian rockets. Because the USA will can attack Russia as the USA have attacked Yugoslavia and Iraq.

Da whatever you say, tovarisk. Don't nuke us, we won't nuke you.

My president might be a tool, but atleast Americans (in America anyway) are safe to complain and give his administration hell about Iraq. Journalists in Moscow can't even complain about Checny without fear of being murdered.

Russia is like the USA in the 1930s, only worse.. both the Russian govt and business sectors are run like organized crime syndicates. Thats why any russian that complains about it too loudly are being silenced.

Russia (USSR) did not use the nuclear weapon, the USA applied.
I do not want war with anybody. I am not supporter Putin. But if the USA will attack Russia, I shall be at war for Putin. Russia my Native land. 2000 Russian nuclear warheads = 2000 "New Orleans"

There are no proofs, that Putin has killed or wished to kill Politkovskaya. Inside of Russia Politkovskaya did not enjoy confidence also not respect because it some times caught in a lie about the Chechen Republic.

Try to calm yourself Max, he was just kidding. The USA won't be bombing Russia anytime soon. Let me explain how the USA decides whether to bomb Russia or not:

1. Bombed the Germans and had them make BMWs for us.

2. Bombed the Italians and had them make Ferraris for us

3. Bombed the Japanese and had them make yet even more cars for us.

4. Bombed the Yugoslavians so they would stop making Yugos for us.

5. Bombed the Iraqis so we can have fuel for the cars we buy from the other people we bombed. (except cars from Yugoslavia.. we had to bomb them just to make them stop producing those (*)(*)(*)(*) Yugos).

6. Trabants suck, but no need to bomb Russia yet. USA peace with Russia is maintained.*

*Although I suggest the Russians soon start making better cars for us to buy if they want to maintain the peace. Them buying a Formula1 team was a step in the right direction

Only proof I need are the dead russian bodies pilling up. Whether Putin is involved or not is immaterial.. russians are being silenced because Russian law enforcement cannot protect russians from being assasinated and unable to prosecute the criminals involved.

Very silly!!!
You even are worse, than our communists with which I should discuss at Russian forums! You are very similar to communistic propagandists in 1985-1991. They too trusted in omnipotence of the USSR((

USA-2007 With double deficiency (trade and the budget), with two wars (in Iraq and Afghanistan) with idiot Bush in presidents. It is most of all similar on USSR-1987 with the scarce budget, war in Afghanistan and idiot Brezhnev in presidents.

The USA are sick of the virus, as the USSR. A virus of illusion of omnipotence.
