Default A New Direction

Quote:
Lugar calls for new direction in Iraq
WASHINGTON – It’s time to change policies in Iraq and begin to remove troops, Sen. Richard Lugar, R-Ind., will say tonight in speech that marks a striking departure from his support of the way President Bush is waging the war.

“Our course in Iraq has lost contact with our vital national security interests in the Middle East and beyond,” Lugar plans to say when he begins a 45-minute speech in the Senate.

Default Lock and Load

The Borg continues to assemble its circular firing squad as Bush the Lame sells it the ordinance.
Its best to enjoy it all at a safe distance.

Default Lugar's a Pragmatist.

Senior senators of both parties on the Foreign Relations Committee tend to be pragmatic centrists. (Biden is chairman; Lugar ranking Republican.) It has been this way for a long, long time. Such guys often harbor Presidential ambitions but are universally unsuccessful, probably because they tend not to build constituencies within their own parties. Lugar has long been suspicious of the appalling incompetence of the Bush administration in foreign policy.

His speech was less a case of abandoning the Bush administration than a call to start making and implementing plans to withdraw, a pragmatic course that Lugar has determined (along with most Americans) to be the only viable choice.

Republicans in Ohio are running scared. And though Voinvich doesn't come up for re-election until 2010, he can read the opinion polls like anyone else. It was only last year that the Dems took a Republican Senate seat in Ohio. They don't want to lose another one.

Lugar is worried about republican chances in 08. The middle east ending up an iranian islamofascist superstate is not high on his list of concerns.

Default ...

Does anyone really believe in "A New Direction"???

If so, I see that there are still people who are not really seeing the truth.
the truth is no politician(Dem or Rep) will pull out of Iraq, you watch.
even though the Dems seem to say they would, they won't. because
they are not that foolish. they know the dangers in such a thing.

This is why they themselves have chosen the words "A New Direction"
because the New Direction is not to pull out, just change the plan, but if they
said we need to change the plan, then they would not get voted in this coming
election.

So I am going to sit back and laugh my a*s off, when you Lefty's see your own party
not pull out of Iraq, after you voted them in. But with that said, I will also say that if
any new president was to pull out of Iraq, He will be known as the worst president
even worst then Bush. maybe not right away, but sometime before their first term
is over, and while this maybe Bush's war NOW, who ever gets elected in 08, Iraq will become
THEIR WAR. LOL I find this so Ironic.

I'm really sorry that some of you Lefty's equate A New Direction to pulling out. after all
it's not ME that miss lead you.
