Default Senate vote to shield wire tap collaborators

Not just a little vote margin, but HUGE vote margin. I have been saying all along, when the dems take control, you loony left screamers will need to scream just as loud, because you put them in office, kind of makes you feel stupid eh? The fact is, nothing, or little is going to change. This nation needs to protect itself, and the democrats know you left loon nut cases would destroy this nation with your insane logic (oxymoronic).

In a preliminary victory for the likes of AT&T and Verizon, the U.S. Senate has ventured a step closer to passing a law that would crush lawsuits accusing telecommunications companies of illegal cooperation with government spying programs.

Default must have missed it billie

what was the final senate vote on that bill, which would give cover to the telecom companies that facilitated the government's listening to our calls without a warrant?

Default yep, jumped the gun a little there.....

Hey ah. Billie, you gotta kind wait till you see the C-SPAN thing, "before" you post about it, right?

http://www.news.com/8301-10784_3-983...tag=nefd.pulse

So, let's see, this looks like it's gonna be one of those "committee" things, so God knows what this thing's gonna look like when it finally emerges.

The House version looks quite different from the Senate version, at least "so far".

This is kind of a troublesome thing, ain't it? It's like, the closer you get to the real power centers of the US government, the more you hear these weasels saying "no lawsuits". You know, I mean, what I see there, is they're slowly raising the temperature under yet another Constitutional Right, which is the Right to Redress. They've already done it with the HMO's, right? Dirty bastids - I mean, the mere stupidity of the concept that individuals in an organization whose specific purpose is to save money by cutting costs, would "not" be forced to make some dangerous compromises that might somehow impact someone's treatment.... I'm sorry, but that's the WRONG solution. Much as I dislike frivolous lawsuits, banning lawsuits entirely would be the wrong response to that particular problem.

Default I still don't get ...

I still don't get why I should be okay with the government (or especially some private phone company) spying on me.

Why in the world should I let a phone company spy on me? How is that going to stop terrorism?

Allowing the terrorists groups like CAIR to sue makes sense to me. Have you any examples of those that have been wronged by this technology? I think you have watched the Bourne Ultimatum to being something that is true.

Relax, it's a movie, no one has or is suffering, only you conspiracy theorists believe our government leaders are evil. Maybe we need 4 million cameras like England has.

How do you know they are spying on you? Are you paranoid? Have you been in contact with al qaeda?

You asked how is it going to stop terrorism? Uh, maybe you should try thinking proactively, or would you rather thousands die again and then you can say, maybe we should monitor overseas calls of terrorists.

Well just relax, your democratic brethren know what is best to protect this country, and like I said, the loony left has been put in their place.

Democrats voted yes, but they are loony? Democrats voted yes, but they've been put in their place?

Rather odd.

Thanks for clarifying that for us - made the mistake of not reading the link from the original post. That "huge margin" vote was only to stop a filibuster.

Talk about "loony"

nothing factual about the title: "Senate vote to shield wire tap collaborators"
