What will the U.S. do. This will be a big show of our real character.

If Russia want to get beat again then by all means, go right ahead.

It will not be a test, it will be a repeat of the Cold War, with Democracy triumphing again.

We'll face off with them......what do you mean what will we do?

I dunno though can the 90's kids handle the Russians?..Serious question....
Remember you need 24-26 or so to even really remember the reality of the USSR and thats the tail end Gorbasm(remember that term? ) years...which where unreal. Imagine Breshnev and the Russians flexing at this time period...yeah I'd be scared for Alaska would be handed back.

I grew up with an ideological movement the equivlant of the Nazis in many ways with an empire to match and thousands of nuclear weapons 30 minutes away......there used to be over 100 Soviet divisons poised to invade West Germany.....kids today have no idea what that was like.

Ok Grond..because you asked...
Sept 1918-July 1919 Archangel.

I don't know if they gave lofty names to the fights..but I'm sure theres some battles in there if you look hard enough..and the Americans won.

There was another force that landed in Vladivostok and operated in Siberia..but you only wanted one

Post 1919 other then maybe some air battles nope we didn't win any ..as you never fought and in the end lost your entire empire barring the Czarist expansion to the east with a whimper.

Here I found some info on it at wikipedia and a picture of th eoutcome and a description of a "battle"for you

Hmm..I hardly consider mentioned short-time intervention in Arkhangelsk or Vladivostok as an example of glorious battle where Americans won. But visit of your troops in Vladivostok had a clear result of long-standing anti-americanism on Soviet/Russian Far East...

You really miss the old fear of being nuked at any time, don't you. Or maybe you got so ingrained in living your life with fear as your signpost, that you don't know any way to keep your bearings unless war is your guide.

The answer to the question is that we should work to move forward as a civilization and try to ban weapons from space.

The other reality we need to face, is that we are in massive debt and can't afford another arms race in space.

And finally, there is the reality that if we ever really face off with China or Russia or another such country that is not a middle east backwater, then they will blow all of our GPS satellites out of space and some of our technological advantage will be gone.

And just FYI, I remember the cold war, I just don't miss it.

I agree. we definitely need to work on this ban because the first country to put weapons up there is going to cause a hell of alot of problems.

What we do best. Act unilaterally.

Where and when did you beat Russia first time?
In 1991, when they were called the Soviets:

Quote:
On December 8, 1991, the presidents of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus signed the Belavezha Accords which declared the Soviet Union dissolved

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet_...nd_Dissolution
The Soviets bankrupted themselves trying to keep up with us militarily. And they had more resources than present day Russia has.

Cant believe I forgot that one. That should have been the most obvious example.

Not really. A democratic Russia is not a threat to us. Thats why we can safely ignore their posturing this time. And do what we were going to do anyway.

Only one way to find out.

No matter how badly they can hurt us, we can hurt them a lot more. Thats why we don't have anything to worry about from them. If a dictatorship made that threat, we'd have to take it a lot more seriously. But with a democracy? Not so much.
