There will be no draft unless we are directly invaded.

Even if Bush wanted to do it, he would never do it. It would be political suicide for him and anyone that supported him.

I know liberals are crossing their fingers and hoping for this to happen. Sorry to disappoint you all =(

You are pro-war, and you say you would serve your country if needed. Right now, there are shortages of troops, so much so that people who have served their TOD's are being forced to stay. The military is recruiting hardcore because we are stretched thin.

What is it exactly that YOU'RE waiting for?

I assume that you're another conservative who is happy enough to reap the benefits of war without putting your own butt on the line. So... Here's your chance to put your money where your mouth is.

Or... are you a chickenhawk?

Wait a minute...are you emailing us from Iraq? No? Then shaddup!

Default the draft

This administration already has it. Its called the back door draft. That is when a reservist or guard member has served their 8 years military obligation, and have served in Iraq,Afganastan etc. Returned back to the world, then get called back to active duty to go back over to fight bush's war. Thats gotta SUCK bigtime. VOTE THE SON OF A bush OUT!!!!!!

Default And

neither is President Bush, nor JohnKerry.

Unfortuantely, two Democratic Senators have taken steps to propose re-enactment of the draft in an effort to throw fear into the hearts and minds of American parents and voting age young men and women before the election.

I consider that totally disgraceful.

Actually I think you're mis-informed. EVERYONE who enlists in ANY branch of the military is signed up for 8 years. Active duty time may be as short as 2 years or as long as 6 years as thier initial active duty stint.

Once that active duty stint is completed they are then moved to the INactive reserves.

So, lets say you join the Navy for 4 years. You're on active duty for 4 years then you are placed in the inactive reserves for another 4 years.

The military has the right to call you back into service for that entire 4 years of inactive time you have.

This was in EVERY contract signed by EVERY person enlisting in the armed forces. If they didn't agree to what they were signing, they shouldn't have ever enlisted in the first place.

I love Senax's banter of 'fighting for freedom'.

Were our freedoms threatened by Saddam/Iraq? No

Are they now? No

Would we lose our freedom if we pulled out of Iraq completely and left it to implode into civil war? No

Would we lose our freedoms if we drafted every man and woman of fighting age and sent them into Iraq to turn it into a democracy? Yes

A draft would destroy the freedoms that many Americans fought and died for; the right to LIFE and LIBERTY

Default Are you in favor of a U.S. draft?

Absolutely not.
Give the politicians more troops and you give them more temptation.
The draft is really a kind of slavery imposed by the state on the individual and should be anathema to all Americans.
Besides, they will never draft the rich and the powerful.
