Default Letter from American Soldier

this i s letter from America soldier i n Irak. he send i t to the blog were i go.

Quote:
Todays Rant: War Profiteers

They are lying thieves. War profiteering corporations are robbing the government blind and its falling on the taxpayers. Corporations like KBR and Halliburton come over to Iraq to build things but they overbill the government, misappropriate funds, and outsource soldiers from thier jobs. Dick Cheny used to work on the corporate level for Halliburton...coincidence?
Don't give me that crap that they are only trying to help the soldiers. After demanding rediculous paychecks, you can't help but question thier altruism. Tell me do they really need brand new luxury package SUV's to drive around the FOB?
Then thier are corporations like Titan. They are basically hired to conduct and supervise interrogations. Rember the Abu Gariab(however the hell you spell it)? Well, what you may not be aware of is that Titan was responsible for the "tactics" used there. But since there were American soldiers in the photos, guess who took the fall.
Blackwater. A mercenary army of thugs. These people do not fall under the UCMJ, so they cannot be punished the way a soldier can. While a soldier who commits a crime against the Iraqi people such as an illegal killing, he/she will lose rank, lose pay, and possibly do time, a Blackwater agent can rely on his corporate supervisors to sweep the incident under the porverbial rug.
As an American soldier in Iraq, this has me very pissed off. Pissed off enough to make war profiteers the rant for today.

Some rant. I would like to know what branch and rank this guy is, if at all possible.

Alright this kinda pisses me off. This guy in my opinion is generalizing Blackwater on a few incidents in Iraq. Without a doubt, Blackwater soldiers are the best Pay for Play soldiers in the world.

And the fact of the matter is simple, unless you pay us well and give us legal loops, we're not going to set one foot in Iraq. People don't do this (*)(*)(*)(*) b/c its fun.

I doubt it's from a "real" Soldier.
Even if it is, it's one person's opinion.

One out of the over 1.3 million who've served as part of OIF.

This fits with what my son told me of his 3 tours in the Gulf War. After 13 years in the Air Force, he was sickened by our treatment of the Iraqi's and left the Air Force because of it. He is convinced there is no way Iraq was in any way a threat to anyone after our ten years of sanctions and our bombing them back a century. As Bush and McCain said at the time, they didn't expect it to be more than a cakewalk to Baghdad, and it would be over. It surprised all of them that Iraq actually fought back, and still are after 5-1/2 years. Now, learning about the corporations such as Haliburton, Titan, Hunt Oil, Exxon, Shell, Total, BP, Chevron, etc, etc, etc rushing in to sign contracts with the puppet government we helped to set up, it begins to become clear why we invaded Iraq, and why we must stay for 100 years. We have to keep Iraq safe for the corporations to rape it for their profits. My son and I both are ashamed of the despicable actions our country has committed for the benefit of corporate profits.

I hope your soldier friend makes it home safely!

You know -- to take a page from your playbook. Don't be a hypocrite - I think you should leave. How can you be a member of a country you are ashamed of? How can you participate in a government that does the things you claim? You want those who support the war to go fight it. It would seem appropriate that you do the same. Go oppose the war. I think, in order to take a truly moral position, you need to go somewhere else. Maybe you could go to Iraq and help the new government do it right. Or, at the very least, go to France, sit in the cafes, and complain. Yeah, I think you have to go. It's the right thing to do.

Take your son with you.
