The only thing that can change that is us.
That's absurd.

If we waged economic warfare against China, they'd dump our T-Bills for PENNIES on the dollar, devalue our currency world wide and keep on laughing as they sold their products to Europe and developing Asia.

Dropping a missle onto an American carrier is most certainly NOT going to assure payment.

Economic war is not as simple as you make it sound.

If China dumped the T-Bills, other countries would simply gobble them up. because a lot of other nations either use US currency as their currency, or back their currency with US currency. And other nations would buy them up, because if our currency devalues to much, they loost not only investments in our country, but their own imports loose value.

And China is also a gross importer of many raw materials. Oil and oil based products (plastics), metals like iron and steel, aluminum, boron, rubber, and a great many other things are constantly imported to China. And in the event of a trade war, a nation that imports raw materials and exports finished products (especially ones that can be replaced from other countries) is often the looser. Look at Japan priot to WWII. The US embargo was crippling their economy, to the point where war seemed to be the only alternative.

When it comes to our trade relationship with China, the US is the major partner. If we (or they) stopped all trade to the US, the US would simply find other suppliers. And most of the countries we used to import from (Philippines, India, Malaysia, Costa Rica, Taiwan) and others (Mexico, Canada, South Korea, Brazil) would love to step in and take up the slack.

Within months, most of the products shipped from China will once again be replaced with items from other countries. And many companies in the US will either increase production, shift industries, or be created to take up the slack as well. China will have a much harder time trying to peddle their goods onto other nations. Because no nation has the need for "luxury goods", nor the disposable income that the US does to buy such quantities.

War scenarios with china are ridiculous....unless....literally half the earth drops dead and 80% of drinkable water instantly vanishes, we need each other economically, and two......even if china..."bankrupted" us that would force the US in too war...a huge war...if we completely collapsed economically we would have to strike with full force including nuclear weapons...on all possible aggressors, democrat or republican this would be the outcome....no ifs ands or buts...its like shooting the giant man in the leg and trying to gang up on him...hes going to just swing wildly hitting whatever and whoever he can...America is the big man..you can hurt him...but no one wants to pay the consequences.

Nuclear weapons take out the possibility of war. Of course with the US's pursuit of missile defense systems, and with China's advancement in cyber technology; eliminating the ability for the opponent's missiles to hit you is a possibility in the future.

But by then there will be a Chinese Deathstar in orbit and Mars will truly be "Red".

This is true...however one thing people are super good at is determined ways of killing each other and things ha, also control of the moon and mars, is the most important thing for any major player in the next 100 years...you have everyone by the balls....its like being Spain finding america before everyone else...except they conquer the whole (*)(*)(*)(*) place and set up a missile defense system.

The US is slashing its space programs while China is planning a manned mission to the moon. International space station? No. China is making her own.
