This is quite impossible, because if you plan to beleive in the Bible, you can't be a "Gay Christian"...So that label is an abomination and very contradictory. an Oxymoron So, be Gay, just don't try to cloak your gayness in the word of GOD, it won't work. GOD hates homosexuality.
This pretty much sums up much of christianity and the views of many christians...heheh. A nasty, hateful religion.
It's all in how it's practiced; what the individual expresses as a part of their religious beliefs/identity. I would not say all Christians are hateful in the way they practice their religion. I would say it's a loudmouthed few who try to use their faith as an excuse to bully others. Then there are those who exploit religion as a way to make a buck or for political power.
The people at my Presbyterian church are not nasty or hateful. They don't hate gays, Muslims, and they don't condescend to pitty Atheists. From what I last heard...Presbyterian Ministers are the one of the few pulpits where the Ministers are required to have a minimum of a 4 year college degree. Most of them have advanced divinities, and or psychological degrees. It's the Republican evangelicals that are involved in politics that are nasty and hatefull.
All of which is your own opinion. Since I don't see where you've actually asked us to discuss anything here, and are just making declarations and giving orders, I have reported this thread as the flamebait it is. One might well ask, "Who died and made YOU God?"
Good points. And I don't think that Jesus would have chosen sides in our political battles; he'd speak to individual hearts and minds.
Newsflash, you can be gay and still be a christian. Just like you can be a liar, thief, adulterer/ess, or even committed murder. All sins are the same in god's eyes so why would homosexuality be any different?
You have never read the New Testament- have you? Unless you condemn all adultery- including marriage after divorce- as often- and as stridently as you do homosexuality- I would call you a faux Christian. Because Jesus specifically condemns adultery, and condemns most remarriages after divorce. But not ever Homosexuality.
And depending upon how one reads/interprets the Bible, homosexuality is no sin at all. Still, the problems come when people start hating-on and imposing upon others as a result of religious 'beliefs'. That is completely unacceptable to most decent HUMAN beings.
it is said that god hates sinners, but it is also said we are all sinners... so there must be no real Christians using your logic .
As a Catholic who supports LGBT rights, I would have to disagree. It all depends on how you view God. People like myself are not Christian because they agree with Christian/Catholic leadership, as I disagree with them on many issues. It is because I agree with God, and have the belief that the bible is to be taught as a series of lessons, and not taken word for word. So in conclusion, Christianity is not defined by its ultra-conservative leadership, it is determined by the belief of its individual followers.
I'd agree that's an oxymoron, but that's based off of Corinthians 6. I'd also call Christian theives, Christian adulterers, Christian idolators, Christian drunkards, greedy Christians, Christian swindlers, Christian sluts, Christian womanizers etc. to be oxymorons. But a lot of those are common enough to not be rare. The only lasting difference is that, insofar as I can see, Christians don't call themselves Christians *and* proudly call themselves those other things. I haven't heard anyone say, "I'm a Christian womanizer and PROUD OF IT!!!!" - - - Updated - - - but this should probably be in the religion forum, as it's really a theological question and doesn't have anything to do with civil rights.
How? When God abhors that lifestyle? He proved it by burning down 5 citiies with fire and brimstone because of it. I know...I know..the Bible is a fairytale. carry on. - - - Updated - - - No opinions. It's Biblical.
So Homosexuality is a person? What's that meme? "Types complete nonsense in online forum" "Gets a 'Thanks' " Lolz...
Where is that said ? Would LOVE to see that verse. Good luck finding it. Maybe read it for yourself instead of making things up. Unless you're going for those "amens", from other clueless supporters.
