The monthly BLS labor data released today shows another milestone passed. With a healthy 217,000 net new jobs produced, the total nonfarm jobs hit a new record 138.463 million in May, meaning that the job declines of the Great Recession have been recouped.

The previous high was 138.365M, set in January 2008. Job losses brought that number down the following months, as we ultimately saw that number drop to 129.655M in Feb 2010, a net loss of 8.7M jobs in just two years.

May's report also marks the 51st month in a row that the private sector has added jobs to the economy.

The number of people working full time hours increased by 312,000, while the number of part time workers fell by 78,000. Of those part time workers, the number working for economic reasons (i.e. not by choice) dropped 203,000 to 6.917M, the lowest number since November 2008.

The fact that we've erased GR losses doesn't mean that the job market has fully recovered, as the unchanged unemployment rate of 6.3% indicates. Population growth since the GR has increased the total job force.

But we erased the job losses Obama inherited in his first term, and a little over a year into his second term we've erased the losses during the Bush administration, another milestone.

What's the percentage of part time jobs?

Fired from your full time job and now have to work 3 part time jobs? YAY! 2 jobs created!

Wouldn't that be on the companies doing the hiring?

The intellectual dishonesty demonstrated by the average liberal is staggering.

I'm just glad we'll continue to see labor participation reduction as baby boomers retire. If we can hold the job numbers or especially if we can improve on them it shouldn't be long until we start seeing some really good unemployment rates.

You want to tell us exactly what is "intellectually dishonest" about the OP, in your opinion?

Or are you just posting off topic flame bait because you're unhappy about this good news for America and you're trying to derail the thread?

We can always count on our "patriotic" RW friends to be unhappy about good news for America.

As I posted in the OP, the number of part time workers for economic reasons (i.e. not by choice) dropped 203,000 to 6.917M, the lowest number since November 2008. That represents 5.0% of the total nonfarm jobs, down from 7.0% in Jan 2010.

Shhhh! Don't tell the cons! They'll all start writing their congressmen to tell them to do something to squash the economy so that they can complain about librools!

Would you please give me a list of things Obama did which actually created any jobs? I am not thinking of any Obama policy which hasn't been an abject failure in creating jobs.

The LFPR has absolutely nothing to do with the total jobs created.

    :roflol:

If you're going to post a RW propaganda talking point, you should at least try to find one that is applicable.

    You didn't have to.

You had enough blame Bush in there to infer it.

So if Obama didn't create them, Bush didn't lose them.............deal?

    - - - Updated - - -

But it does with the artificial UE rate they tout.............

    this is a fascinating graph.

it shows 66% as if it equals "100%" and 62.5% as if it equals "0%".

the difference between 66 and 62.5 is a mere .05%, and yet this very biased graph makes it look like the difference is actually 100%.

talk about bull(*)(*)(*)(*) graph makers. :roflol:

I noticed that too. But hey, never let the truth get in the way of a good smear tactic.

As far as the new record jobs number not being Obama's doing, you'll have to take it up with these "experts":

Wow, the thread went all the way to the count of the first reply before someone had to say, it ain't so, we don't want it to be so, so it ain't.
Amazing how some seem to be happy when they get to say the country is not getting better and yet will be the first to claim they Love this Great Nation. I say: BS!
