We appear to heading down that same road.

If you have no direction for a career right now, it time to consider being a life insurance agent. If Obama Care is fully implemented and encourages a End-of-Life Plan, you can cash in selling life insurance policies. This way when folks loved ones get seriously sick and they can't get treatment, the family will hit the jackpot when the aforementioned loved one kicks off. A dream vacation, a home re-model or even a NEW CAR can be yours! Why not, after all you sent Grand Ma a Christmas card when you remembered, that's worth a new car....isn't it?

I suggest you don't move to the UK, where they have a completely different system of healthcare.... Besides that, you have no point.

Palin was right afterall. The death panels exist. Exist in the minds of the terminally stupid such as her.

Maybe that was her main concern. She recognised her stupidity was terminal and thought that this would put her on the death list or the death panel.

End of life care plans have always been part of US healthcare.

Honestly Peabody,, the only frame of reference you have is the Daily Mail. Goodness gracious me!

You've never personally experienced any form of universal healthcare, ever. How about giving a voice to those 100 thousands of patients daily who get medical treatment under universal healthcare, then go home satisfied and happy?

Of course you won't, it goes against your agenda.

It's about the patient registering their preferences for the treatment they wish when they come to the natural end of their life, which is inevitable. If doctors aren't paid to do it, they don't, in the brave new Americanised NHS world.

Wait a minute its end of life counseling see people DIE, in most cases in the US in hospitals or getting care that will have no meaningful extension to life I would say spending $50,000 for an extension of life of months a waste of money. So they help people dying make their end comfortable and with dignity at home with family or in hospice care centers. If they are going to DIE then what is the point of lying about it.

Even prisoners in jail become institutionalized to the point they get so used to the condition they live in, they simply don't know any different. The same applied to countries and health care.

The NHS costs half of your death machine and is about a hundred times more efficient because it doesn't pay the profiteers for life and let the poor die, as you know.

If the American healthcare system is in such fine fettle, why has ObamaCare been introduced? And then why all the negativity about its introduction?

Imagine- asking doctors to discuss with their patients how they wanted to be cared for.

The Right prefers our current system of ignorance and just putting the elderly on life support regardless of what they wish.

which of course are detailing mistakes and misdiagnosis in the system. NOT demonstrating that the system kills people to save money.

this has NOTHING to do with encouraging doctors to discuss end of life options and preferences with dying patients.

I have 5 parent (natural, step and inlaw) still alive, all in their 80's. My wife and I INSISTED that they make out living wills which include a do no rescusitate clause as per their preferences.

that the right is some how trying to make this end of life planning process some diabolical death scheme to save money, is indicative of their attitudes towards profit at any cost, instead of realizing that it is an expression of compassion and choice by the dying.

Recall terry schiavo's autopsy which proved the atrocious and insensitive attempted intervention of the right to be totally and completely wrong. If anything, she should have been given an overdose of morphine and allowed to die peacefully instead of by starvation and dehydration because some ********s thought that god could perform a miracle.

In a way, the Socialists have found a final solution for themselves. They have always been a bit self-loathing and suicidal.

Has any nation welcomed their demise by killing themselves, failing to procreate, aborting what children they accidentally have, and allowing hostile foreign peoples to establish colonies in their major cities?

My Dad chose Hospice over a feeding tube, but that was his choice and would have been my choice if he couldn't make it for himself as it was covered under his advanced directive. Your remark about those who believe in God only serves to display your lack of knowledge regarding religious folks. You'll find Christians have no problem with dying in hospice because they know they are going to a far better place. It's the atheists that don't want to go, and kick in scream to be saved by modern medicine, because they think they just disappear into nothingness. They just don't know where they are going it a whole lot warmer. That's the ironic part, if I'm right I go to a better place and the non believers go to a far worse place. If the atheist is right we both end where the atheist thought we were going anyway.

As far as poor Terry goes, follow the money.
