It would help the readability of the forum immensely if the mods started making people use the quote box whenever they are making quotes from other sources that are more than one or two sentences long. I don't understand why someone wouldn't use a quote box. Is there some logic to this I'm missing?
Quotation marks have traditionally been an accepted way of quoting someone as well. "Is there some logic to this I'm missing?"
People didn't "traditionally" post on computer screens via internet forums. It helps readability. Furthermore I don't know what "traditional" readings you have read where the author quotes ten paragraphs from an obscure blog and then only has one line of commentary squeezed in at the bottom. Dickens perhaps? It's a brave new world my friend. Time to adapt.
Not everyone knows how to use this feature, but perhaps, if you see someone having trouble with it, a helpful hint would be appreciated?
I don't use quote boxes for quotes from external sources, because I use quote boxes to quote the post to which I am responding. I use italics for external sources. I think it is confusing when you use quote boxes for both.
Psssssssst. Over here. No, over here..under the chair with a blanket over my head. I've been in 6 other forums and they all had nifty Wrap
I am not talking about the quote button. I am referring those boxes that you can use to put large amounts of text that you scroll through instead of everything showing up at once. I don't see that function on this forum like other forums. I see ridiculously long quotes all the time here and having them in a scroll box would tidy it up a bit.
