Another Leftist Admits the Real Goal Is Taxing the Middle Class

Obama has staked out a very dogmatic and inflexible position on class-warfare tax hikes and he obviously wants all of us to think only the “rich” will be impacted.

I think it’s foolish to penalize investors, entrepreneurs, small business owners and other upper-income taxpayers. What nation, after all, has ever prospered by placing obstacles in front of those who create jobs? France? Don’t make me laugh.

But I’m also amazed that anyone believes Obama isn’t going to screw the middle class as well. The simple reality is that there aren’t enough rich people to finance big government.

There are some honest folks on the left who admit that they want ordinary people on the chopping block.

The New York Times endorsed higher taxes on the middle class in 2010.
The then-House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer also gave a green light that year to higher taxes on the middle class.
Earlier this year, MIT professor and former IMF official Simon Johnson argued that the middle class should pay more tax.
The Washington Post also called for higher taxes on the middle class this year, as did Vice President Joe Biden’s former economist.
A New York Times columnist also called for broad-based tax hikes on the middle class this year.

Now we can add another honest statist to the list. I debated some guy from a left-wing think tank and he wants Obama to push all of us off the fiscal cliff.

    ................

Theres lots more at the link at the top of the OP.

Theres not enough richy's to pay for your freestuff....

    Now the truth comes out....

    Thanks for the lies, leftys....

    please list your excuses below...

Anyone with 2 brain cells knows that "taxing the rich" or the "1%" will simply never be enough to finance the absolute mess we want to keep afloat. Even if you killed them all and took every last cent the 1% had...you'd never come close. Someone posted a great video here the other day that broke this all down and showed on a calendar just how long you could go by taking weath from various groups. It was pretty staggering to see just how much money from all kinds of groups you would ahve to take to keep afloat for one calendar year.

I think the 1% bought them a month or two.

If congress is too afraid to raise taxes on the middle class, they are just going to let the gov't spending crush the economy. Then, they will not let a crisis go to waste. They want a crisis, so bad that people call for a dictator as the Romans use to do during their republic. Then, our dictator will step in. Who are they considering for the job? Who will stand up to him, when he orders the redistribution of wealth?

Just another case of the 47% sticking it to the 53%.

Well yeah. Taxing the rich only garners tens to maybe, if you really seriously kick their asses, a hundred billion extra dollars in revenues. That doesn't even begin to touch upon the trillion plus dollar deficits we're racking up each year. Everyone, even our non-tax paying friends, are going to pay more for just about everything. Businesses will pay - consumers will pay - all strata of tax payers WILL PAY. And we should. If we elect politicians based on what government can do for us, than we better be willing to pay for all those wondrous "benefits". Otherwise, stop electing people that have this pathological love of all-things-government!

Hey man, I almost strangled on my coffee. Jesus, there should be rules in here to protect us from these statements.

BH Obama is locked in for four more years so I don't know why he doesn't just drop the hammer on the fools that elected him. It may be that he wants to damage the economy by taking money out of the capital investment sector before he will crush the middle class . To really hurt American like he wants to he will have to ham string the middle class more than he already has. Build more debt before he hits us with higher taxes or he may fear the midterm elections in 2014 and feel that he has to go for the kill now.

BH Obama has asked for a national security force more powerful than the military and that will cost more than the rich have on hand. Printing more money at this point isn't a good idea so he may tax the middle class now and all he has to do is cross his arms and blame it all of the Republicans.

Please, no more talk about cutting spending..

You guys actually expect Obama voters to be capable of basic arithmetic and knowledge of American history?

    It's not about the math.

    It's about "fairness"

Every person working who has income tax taken out of their pay check, (which includes those making minimum wage by the way) should go back and learn the history of how it too was sold to the uneducated Americans as only targeting the "Rich"

    it was the same pitch

Was there ever any doubt that this is what Obama and the Democrats really want? Their neo-Jacobin class warfare "tax the rich!" antics are just a fig leaf.

When our taxes go up, thank Obama, the Democrats and the people who voted for them...

The middle class is the biggest thing standing in Obama's way from ushering in the peasant's revolt. Without that happening, socialism can't take root according to Marxist ideology. Alinsky taught that the way to destroy the middle class is to pretend you're part of the middle class, which is how Obama campaigned in 2012.

This should come as no surprise to anyone.

    OK.

thanks for admitting we all need to pay higher taxes.

And we need to cut spending.

Eliminating the foolish payroll tax cut and raising the rates on high earners is a place to start.

    ObamaCo's non-stop, inflationary neo-keynesian policies
    and an environmental agenda fulfilled...
will have the poor and middle class permanently begging central planners for more and more "benevolence".....
and permanently voting to keep their "compassionate" necessity subsidies rolling in.

and thus ends the Constitutional Republic.

The super rich have ripped may trillions out of America and other countries over the last 20 years. Tax them.

But you can't tax them, because they own the politicians.

Can we tax the "poor" then too for the same reasons? They've ripped off the Middle Class and not-super-rich for something like $17 trillion in welfare and their numbers just keep growing.

Wow an entire thread devoted to demonstrating how little the right knows about economics.
    Incredibly funny reading! Comedy gold!

This thread has a number of business owners explaining the economic birds and the bees to idealistic children
who very mistakenly believe free, natural rights endowed men and women will simply continue handing over larger and larger portions of their labor to the left's "fair and socially just" collective.
