I haven't decided yet whether it is you or the Professor who is the B side of the remaindered recording I keep hearing.

I will let you know when I have reached a decision.

This is why we have to have our own meth industry.

Because Americans are too dumb to smuggle us cocaine and heroin.

Well, somebody has to protect your skies. Your air force consists of aging cargo aircraft and out of date helicopters. Not a defensive aircraft to be seen. You're lucky that the USAF tactical combat aircraft are available to protect you. Your welcome!

And apparently the NZ police, such as they are, were too dumb or too busy dancing to catch these two morons which is why they ended up in a US court.

Protect New Zealand? Why? And from whom? Are there nearby hostile cannibals? (this rules outs Australians since they are non hostile cannibals).

If Bush were still president, I would surmise that it was suspicion that Alcaeda is in NZ and we need a base there for Predators to fly around and shoot at any suspicious acting NZrs. But that would mean a lot of accidental deaths since NZ behavior is odd to begin with.

I have to admit there's really nothing in New Zealand that anyone would want. The country is full of methamphetamine and alcohol addicts, sheep and cranky people. I'm surprised that Australia hasn't kicked the Kiwis out and use the place as a waste disposal site.

"Protect our skies" from what exactly?

    An invasion of Canada geese?

Banks cannot recollect getting $50k from Dotcom, flying into his mansion by helicopter or anything else that might incriminate him.

There has to be a reason USA has a base in NZ. Its not to guard against hostile geese, or cannibals. Its not about protecting some valuable resource under the ground, cause NZ has nothing valuable that we know of.

It is not about dumping nuclear waste because NZrs would be showing some symptoms of radiological poisoning by know. Since they were crazy before USA got there, then no way to determine if their crazyness now is new, or is normal.

So I got to think that maybe its like where a small contingent of highly classified documents are stored, in case USA were to disappear, and possibly some underground survival mall, like in Logans Run, where the US Congressmen (if they survive) will be flown to, to keep the idea of a USA still alive.

Kind of like when De Gaulle left Paris and declared to represent "Free France" in exile in Great Britain, and then I think he flew to Iceland or some other small insignificant island country.

    It's none of those things.

It's about the US piggybacking on NZ's impeccable international reputation. It wants us in its coalition of the killing to give it a veneer of respectability.

It's also about sending a message to the Chinese. Thus we have two evils nicely cancelling one another out. The Chinese have our land; the US has its base.

Yes Piggybacking is the easiest way to creat a veneer of respectability. Thats why USA sends "advisors" at first, in the hope of training the natives to kill the other natives, or to find where the hostile natives are located, so Predators can be remote controlled by US Airforce gamers on their PC internet connection back in the States. Its SO much more fun that just Napalming the entire Vietnam jungle, AND, no actual casualties to US airmen.

Tied for first place with Australia and Thailand as having the most methamphetamine addicts is hardly an impeccable reputation. That's why we carefully screen the "natives" trying to enter our USAF base at Harewood.

You really are bereft of ideas, aren't you?

You play like a cracked record.

Step outside yourself. Say something funny.

The American military is there to protect the best wild trout fishery on this planet ;)

Indeed. As a kid, me and my brother would go down to the river, flick a rod and, with the aid of butter and wild mint, have a lunch fit for a king.

I've caught several monsters on the Taharua and Mohaka Rivers. But that was back in the 70's and 80's.

I need to do some research, but I believe New Zealand still holds the world records for the largest brown and rainbow trout caught.

    Not bad for introduced species.

Actually, the best trout are the smaller ones. Much tastier, less of a mud flavour.

We reserve the monsters for Americans to mount over their fireplaces.

The rainbows which I have caught in New Zealand were nearly as tasty as those I've caught in Wyoming. Ours are a bit sweeter with a less gamey taste.

I haven't eaten trout from NZ nor America but I've eaten (and caught) heaps in Australia. We also have a fabulous trout fishery, namely down in Tasmania which rivals NZ. The trout fishery in the Australian Alps is also fantastic, where I fish. I would spend a couple of weekends flyfishing each year, in the spring and again in the autumn just before the trout move upstream to spawn. April/May (our autumn) the trout are at their best, fattened up over summer. In March and April they mainly feed on fresh water crayfish (yabbies as we call them), their flesh is an iridescent pink and absolutely delicous.

Eating, I prefer rainbows, but browns are better fighters. The best I've done is a 3 kilogram rainbow in late April, on a 5 weight fly rod in only about 18 inches (using the old measurement) of water in a tiny alpine stream. Man what a fight. I released this one after weighing and taking a photo. We are allowed to keep only two per day per person, but one is enough for an evening meal.
