You purchase car insurance, required by the state, not big business, so that if you harm someone's property or cause bodily injury, then 1) the victim is not left destitute because of your negligence and 2) so that you are not left destitute because you caused damage or bodily injury. You are betting the insurance company that you are going to have an accident and cause property damage and/or bodily injury. THEY are betting that you don't. If you win, they pay. If you lose, they get to keep the bet.

I'm being punished for a crime I never committed. That is absolutely wrong. Stop with your moral relativism.

You apparently love forced car insurance or else you wouldn't be defending it.

No, you're not. You're being asked to obey the rules when using a public resource.

Those rules are idiotic and economically destructive. People should not have the right to vote to harm me even if something is a "public resource".

I'm disagreeing with your assertion that you have a right to use public resources however you like, even if what you want to do is against the law.

It's not "using public resources however I like". That's an absurd exaggeration of my claim. My claim is that I should not have to pay for potential future damages caused by an accident I'm involved with.

All that does is immorally transfer wealth to those whom benefit from it (in this case Big Car).

No one is harming you. If you believe the rules are idiotic and destructive, convince other people you're right and get the law revoked. If you're unable or unwilling to do that, there is no reason why your opinion should be imposed on the majority.

What will you do if you end up liable for causing a car accident that happens to put someone in the hospital...possibly even kills them. Do you think you will have enough out of pocket money to cover all those expenses?

I feel as though people like me will have no option other than to kill people that want to violate us, soon.

You don't have a right to use the public streets without accepting responsibility for your actions. It's a public resource and you have to comply with the rules of that resource -- if you want to use it.

It's not "not accepting responsibility for your actions" to not want to be STOLEN from in order to pay for POSSIBLE damages in the future. How hard is that to get? Not very. You must be (*)(*)(*)(*)ing dense as hell

No need to be rude. But yes, it is not accepting responsibility. Being responsible includes making preparations so you are financially capable of fulfilling that responsibility. Just saying you will be responsible, but having no ability to make restitution is neither responsible nor honest.

And I never went into a voluntary agreement with anyone that says "I will pay for your damages if we get into an accident". Nor did they with me.

Maybe if people didn't think "well everyone has car insurance because they're forced to, so I might not be able to get my expenses covered if I get in a wreck, so I don't want to buy a $60,000 car because if I wreck it that's 60,000 bucks down the drain", they'd be more careful. And also buy less expensive vehicles.

You are a far-Republican liberal fascist so this doesn't surprise me.

"Saving to buy a gun," tells us all there is NO financial responsibility possible for now.

Um, you're not forced to buy insurance on your car, at least in my state. But you must have insurance to pay for damages you cause to someone else or their property.

    Don't you live in Wisconsin?

You absolutely have to have proof of insurance in your vehicle at all times.
