because the civilian union workers do not get their health insurance from TRICARE. TRICARE is under scrutiny because it has not had a premium increase in 17 years... whereas civilian union workers for the federal government have had their premiums raised many times over that period. TRICARE is a wonderful cushy benefit. I know. I have it. It costs peanuts. I have no problem with them finally raising that premium. And Ronnie did just that when he raised military premiums. He raised TRICARE premiums, and still you worship him.

Premiums are paid by the government. Obama wants soldiers to pay more.

The reason Obama wants to leave the civilans untouched is because are in a union.

Everyone knows that the unions own Obama. Its not something that needs to be hidden or kept secret. everyone knows it.

The civilians, including unions, are ALL paying more for insurance. Who isn't?

Obama wants single payer, he wants everyone covered, but sadly until that happens we will all pay more

what premiums are paid by the government? not military retirees. not unionized government workers. And what you claim to "know" is just more partisan whining from the right. You guys have finally figured it out - like George Will did earlier this week - that you got no chance at getting rid of Obama and should set your sites on congress.... but hacks on message boards keep swilling the koolaid and spewing Obama hate and think it will actually resonate with the electorate. kinda funny.

And with all that blabbering you still can't break the argument.

Great Job. why do you hate our military? why are you pushing them off the cliff?

because, as I said, the unions are not covered by TRICARE and it is THAT program that is coming under scrutiny by many people from both parties in congress because it has not had a premium increase in 17 years. McCain himself tried to put in an amendment that would raise the premiums higher than the administration suggested and another amendment to remove retirees from TRICARE PRIME.

things that make ya go hmmmmmmm.

and mike... I don't hate the military. that would be self-loathing if I did. I am a retired O-5 and have long benefitted from TRICARE.

I see this has been a grand Right Wing attack theme - amost entirely based on one reporter's take (Gertz) on the matter.

Just researching the matter a bit, it appears the ALTERNATIVE to controlling Tricare costs is REDUCTION in the numbers of military personnel - deep cuts, as nearly as I can see - military and civilians alike.

Okay gang: grab your cudgels and torches.....THIS is what most of the fuss is about:

    http://militaryadvantage.military.com/2011/02/tricare-co-pays-likely-to-increase/

An increase in co-pays fro $3 to $5 ?? OMG, Martha, let's march on the Capitol !!!

(As previously noted, this is first increase since the Reagan years .)

It's also a major Sock Puppet campaign - with 50-60 almost-word-for-word "reports". (Some say "Obama CUTS Veterans' Benefits" ; others claim "Obama GUTS Veterans' Benefits". )

The purpose is pretty clear: the creation of widespread rage among military and veterans. (It's working-if what I've seen here means anything.)

(Just wondering: Might this be connected in some way to the Ron Paul campaign ? It looks a bit like the disinformation his campaign favors.)

The Cons who post on this board are mostly liars. If they post a story it must automatically be double checked because for the most part the info they post is BS.

I'm pretty much like most folks: not completely liberal or completely conservative. (My viewpoint varies from issue to issue.)

Both sides have their "wingnuts" - and the left wingnut is as tiresome to me as the right wingnut.

'Facts' are not defined by their appearance in the lefts bought and paid for media nor by its being in the daily talking points from the DNC...

The real issue with the left is that the right today refuses to grant the left the power to define what is a 'fact' and what is not.

An equally trivial denial of contraceptive benefits at religious schools was enough to get the left in a tar and feather mob...

so you agree that this is a trivial issue that really isn't about how the retirees are getting screwed by Obama, but it is really about gotcha politics?

    thanks for that.

But why are we cutting the military benefits and leaving the civilian unions benefits untouched?

Why? because for a 3rd time, Obama is owned by the unions.

that is YOUR opinion totally unsupported by any facts whatsoever. TRICARE was the target because it had gone for 17 years without a single cut... and now it has been cut... a tiny little bit. But let's make hay about it for political reasons, I understand completely. But as a military retiree, and a recipient of TRICARE, your whines fall on deaf ears.

    It is not my opinion.

The fact is Obama is cutting military benefits, but not civilian benefits.

That is a fact. nothing you say changes it.

but the reason for doing so is where your opinion comes to play. It's nothing but the partisan opinion of a moronic hack.

Then what does it have to do with? If cuts are to be made, he is only doing it to the military and not his beloved unions.

because TRICARE has avoided cuts for 17 years while the union has not. or did you MISS that part?
