Well, Marx's ideas, like Murray Rothbard's ideas are a pipe dream. You cannot reach the end-result of such philosophies.

 

No argument there. Though I'd distinguish between the two that, Marx wouldn't have endorsed what is now refereed to as Marxism, Rothbard can be directly linked to his Utopian ideas.

Also, unlike Rothbard, Marx's ideas on labor are still referenced frequently.

 

Obama is indeed a foolish socialist who want to turn America into a European welfare state.

Thanks to Obamacare, 49% of our health care costs today are now funded by the government. And who provides the funds for the transfer payments? You and me, the U.S. taxpayers, that's who!

Obama clearly supports the Marxist doctrine of, "From each according to his ability; to each according to his need."

I never said I agreed with Friedman on everything, but I do agree with most of what he says. He simply had a few blind spots. If he had applied his tremendous understanding of the nature of government to monetary policy, he would have been an Austrian economist.

 

He did have a lot of Austrian elements in him. He was opposed to the Federal Reserve, and did favor a free banking gold standard. I think he realized that it would be very difficult to have such a system, so he proposed active monetary policy as an alternative. Unfortunately, his alternative system has become our demise.

 

These comments by Milton Friedman were very good.

He has to explain to Phil Donahue why socilaism never seems to work well as an economic system!

The crux of Marxist theory is "From each according to his ability; to each according to his need."

This means the productive citizens of a society must always support and care for the un-productive members of society.

There is not one society in existence today where this philosophy has a chance in hell of ever succeeding!

Eventually, the productive citizens of a society get tired of constantly supporting the non-producers who contribute nothing, and they stop. This is exactly why the Soviet Union failed under the yoke and chains of communism!

Socialism and Communism are forms of governance and Marx was a communist who developed his "marxist theory" with that end in mind, so his theories are skewed to favor his desire. Though he wasn't necessarily a fan of socialism he more than embraced that notion because it would lead to communism. And like I said, its all about class envy anti-capitalism and that is the bottom line.

I said "Ultimately these are all just forms of anti capitalism and are actually just economic theories that attempt to equalize society." and "The problem with their theory is the only way to achieve that society is through the application of force, in one form or another", which really defines marx.

I also said "All you have to do is listen to how he speaks and look at his associations and their beliefs" which leads one to conclude Obama would be a Marxist.

Occupy Wall Street would be a perfect example of Marxism and is fully supported and probably initiated by Obama and his SEIU goon Andy Stern. Marx wanted the peasant class to revolt against the ruling class and even thought many of them would have to be killed off, and while ows hasn't festered to the killing phase, they are attempting the revolt.

Obama was a community organizer. The Bill Ayers method of converting us to socialism wasn't working so "community organizing" was invented by the marxist of the '60's to organize revolt from below and to encourage the adoption of socialist and marxist thought.

There is considerable evidence his mother was a communist, and he had a childhood mentor who was a communist. He said he hung out with the more radical marxist elements in college.

every time this idiocy comes up, I've challenged the people making the claim to define marxism/communism/socialism, and provide specific examples.

No, not really, even less related if we pull from modern definitions and interpretations. Communism has roots in communalism, sharing of resources (ie. a foolish utopian idea). Socialism on the other hand has issues with ownership of capital and the wage-labor relationship but in modern times embraces the market, quite distinct from communism.
