Have read about a few well known cases.

    Travis Walton.

    Jim Sparks (esp that one).

Usually tend to follow a similar pattern.

There are literally thousands, many tens of thousands, of reported cases, and likely even more that people do not report.

Do you tend to look at all these people and believe they are mostly....

    Poll coming up..

Went for the second option, I think it is often something deeply within the psyche, going back to when they were a kid.

Probably why many abductees often report not a single case, but many, going back to when they were a kid.

Can I pick all but the last? I will go with the drug abuse one though, because look at most of the cases. They take place in the middle of (*)(*)(*)(*)ing nowhere, and the people are usually camping (read: drinking) or fishing (read: drinking).

I'd be interested in some study between the religious beliefs of the abductee before and after the abduction. Got anything?

The two or three cases I have read didn't devote anything particular to it, one way or the other.

Why - do you see it as key, in some way?

I read a story about a woman who went to bed one night, and woke up two hours later in a field. She wasn't even in the same State - to travel by plane would have taken at least twice as long to get to where she was, but she somehow made it across State lines in less than 2 hours, all while she was asleep.

That can't be anything other than supernatural.

    I choose the last option.

There is a case, happened in China, the abductee is a tree farmer who is unlike Westerners or Urban Chinese that kinda know what alien craft and ETs looks like. He has absolutely no idea what is aliens, has never heard of UFOs, and what alien crafts should look like.

Here is part of the article:

"The best-known alien abduction story in China is the case of Meng Zhao Guo, a young tree farmer, from Wuchang, near Harbin in Heilongjiang province.

In June 1994 Zhao Guo and two other farm workers, working at Red Flag logging camp saw something unusual on nearby Mount Pheonix.

The complex and bizarre encounter that followed involved Meng being hit by a beam of light, as well as allegedly experiencing an abduction and a sexual encounter with a female alien.

Meng Zhaoguo, a rural worker from northeast Wuchang city, explains he was 29 when he broke his marital vows for the first and only time - with an extraterrestrial of unusually robust build.

"She was 10 feet [3.03 meters] tall and had six fingers, but otherwise she looked completely like a human,'' he says. "I told my wife all about it afterwards. She wasn't too angry.''

During September 2003 Zhang Jingping, a Beijing-based UFO researcher, had psychologists and police technicians subject Zhao Guo to hypnosis and a lie detector test in Beijing. Zhang indicated the test results proved the abductee was telling the truth.

He also indicated that doctors had indicated that Zhao Guo’s scars,

"could not possibly have been caused by common injuries or surgery."

Meng Zhao Guo, a humble farmer with only 5 year’s schooling, also indicated that he had never heard of UFOs or ufologists until after his experience had been reported.

In China Bill Chalker, an Australia UFO scientist, was able to have extensive discussions with Professor Chen Gongfu, the principal researcher of the Meng Zhao Guo case. He has asked me to assist in getting his research translated and available to western audiences."

Notice the lady alien description. She is a human looking humanoid/hybrids.
The aliens are messing with human's DNA and finally created human looking instead of alien looking hybrids.
I wonder why the aliens would created human looking aliens?

Mathematically and logistically, it's near-impossible that aliens would fly 40 light years just to anally probe us.

I hold out hope that America has made contact with aliens but I am not holding my breath- the reality of it is in the realm of fantasy.

Oh for...... ... now thanks to this thread I've been in that bit of youtube...you know the part, I've seen a coupla werewolves, some birds flying past a plane being touted as real actual UFOs, some Scandinavian kids making a scifi trailer but classed as Wikileaks footage banned from release to the public (like you can ban Wikileaks from doing anything) and the actual Loch Ness monster captured by Google maps, but we all know it's a boat.

Alien abduction...no. 99% like many other fun but silly premises put forth by the superstitious, attention seeker, con men, mentally not very well, etc etc etc people. (no offence to you though, Jacko, it's all very interesting and good fun)

    Can't it?

The story is meaningless without context and scrutiny, to be honest.

    Interesting, yet not unprecedented.

Many cultures in history have invented mythical beings, that are remarkably similar to the mythical creatures invented by other cultures, even if the two cultures didn't appear to meet.

It doesn't mean those mythical beings existed, just that despite cultural differences, our imagination will be along the same lines.

    Yeah, Travis Walton.

The real story is more interesting, and when you read it, you are left with the idea that it was all a bunch of BS, to be honest.

I think the movie was about the finest example of Abduction
I've ever seen.Started off plausable. The scenes of where those
little Creepzoid Martians take one for their Nazi-like probings
and housing { Catastrophic Huge Martian Cocoon } was
    Phantasmic.

    The Keepers - Jim Sparks.

An absorbing read, and he is unique among most, in that he has total recall of almost everything, while others tend not to.

I bought his book cheap on Amazon.

Like I say, an interesting read, but it did strike me half way through that this man, probably unbeknown to him, sounds like he is deluded, and possibly suffering from delusions and hallucinations.

I tend to take the psychological perspective, on this matter.

Quite often, the reported experiences of people, will follow a similar sort of theme.

Not evidence of actual events happening, after all, people can read so many books and sites about this, it is quite possible for an attention seeker or mistaken person to be well versed on this. Morever, millions dream about the same things every night, doesn't mean to say this is proof that the content of the dream is real.

Anyway, two things strike me about these cases.

They nearly all have a strong sexual theme, more accurately, a strong sexual violation theme.

Two - those that make the claims nearly always say that they first experienced this, from a very young age.

Sometimes, v traumatic events can leave a mark on a person, if you see where I am headed...

    Sleep paralysis.

We all get sleep paralysis, it stops us from acting out our dreams and hurting outselves, etc. However, sometimes upon waking up you remain in SP. This comes with not being able to move, usually makes you feel like someone, or something else is in the room, and can usually come with a sensation of floating.

Gee, what does that all sound like? What would someone think who didn't know about sleep paralysis, or didn't have a very logical mind?

That Penn and Teller series, in three parts, is both funny and revealing.

Even debunks so called 'alien implants'.

    Hardly.

This is Chinese myth and legend. Does it resumble today's ETs? See any similarity?
He only understand this as mythical thing, he can't make the mordern ET's thing up, not in a million years.
