You come into my home uninvited and you will be picked up by the undertaker. Justifiable means when my life or someone else's life is in danger. If they brake into your home shot them in the house, not in the street, that will get you jail time. Mak., I was a reserve officer and have 3 son-in-laws that are officers.
It absolutely does. You are trying to show how GUNS are the booge man when in fact they keep a lot of crimes from happening.
READ the title of the thread. GUN RELATED DEATHS IN AMERICA. What the hell does Britain have to do with the title? What does anything you have posted have ANYTHING to do with the thread title?
Here's a good one: http://www.cbsatlanta.com/story/17048342/police-kill-man-barricaded-inside-his-sisters-home And this one is also worthy of noting: http://news.yahoo.com/okla-woman-shoots-kills-intruder-911-operators-okay-091106413.html While there are unquestionably individuals that use guns for nefarious purposes there is also law enforcement and private citizens using firearms to protect themselves and others.
That isn't even comparable though there was less than 15,000 murders by gun in America in 2008 out of over 300,000,000 million people. While over 1.21 mil babys killed by abortion in 2008. 19.6 out of every 1000 women between 15-45. But that ok because they would have been poor and minority's they are better off according to some. Over 50 million Americans have died since roe VS wade. More than Have been killed by guns, bombs, or cars in America ever. But now let's get back to using these already victimized people misfortune to promote someone's political agenda.
To show you and others that baning guns does little to nothing except put guns in criminals hands while those of us that obay the law are the ones left defenseless agains them. Do you need me to draw you a picture??
Murder based upon philosophical arguments is the violation of the Right of Life of a "person" and the US Supreme Court, after an extensive review of statutory law, common law and social norms going back throughout recorded history was unable to find any foundation for "personhood" prior to birth. This is documented in the Roe v Wade decision that so many fail to actually read. Lacking "personhood" murder cannot occur as the Right to Life, as well as all other inalienable Rights, only exist for the person.
Thinks guns are bad. This is purely emotional and has nothing to do with the pluses and minuses of gun ownership, whether crime would go up or down, etc. It doesn't matter to him when the evidence from the UK or Australia indicate that allowing only law breakers to have guns is a bad idea. He doesn't care if a gun prevents a rape or a murder, guns are bad.
^Guns are fine to defend yourself in your own home. But carrying them around in public and randomly shooting people is ridiculous.
They are good ones, but just remember all deaths must have occured between January 1, 2012, and December 31, 2012.
A guy "carrying a gun around in public" can save alot of lives. If they have a legal permit, then they were deemed to be perfectly capable of carrying a firearm. Again the only people you have to worry about are 'bad' people, and they dont follow the laws anyway! There really is no argument here.
Read the title of the thread and repeat it for me, right here. I want to be convinced you have bothered to take note of the subject.
Sir it would seem to me that someone has misinformed you. I have to assume based on earlier comments about Americans that you are not one. If I'm wrong about that I apologize. We do not go around randomly shooting people. The people here that kill innocents are criminals. We have a large country with porous borders. With vast expanse of rural areas where there is no law enforcement to defend us. We have third world countrys to our south that survive off dealing black market goods to us. We have attempted for decades to eliminate drugs yet they get worse every year. If guns are made illegal that will just add to there list of products. China, Russia, and Iran sell arms to central and south america. Not to mention the 280 million guns already here. Mexico a country with some of the strictest gun laws in the world is war zone. We need our guns as a deterrent to prevent even more violence. Our country is not Europe we are different. The same threats and violence we live with on a daily basis make us the strongest country in the world. That same mindset also got involved in two world wars which the results would have been very different without us. Not to mention a cold war that we could have just retreated to our country and left europe to face the soviets alone. Are we perfect no do innocent suffer sometimes regrettable yes. But this is a imperfect world.
Please stay on topic about gun related deaths in America between the dates expressed by the OP. Some thread drift is allowed but constant off topic posts will be deleted. Thank you, Jiyuu-Freedom Site Moderator
O.K., Mak., since Mexico is in America, Central America, hey, you didn't specify north, south, or central,so talking about Mexico's gun kill rate is with in the bounds of your thread, and Mexico was number ten on the world homicide list in 2011 while the U.S. was number 34, I guess they can be counted, right? I mean, shucks, the drug cartels down there only accounted for about 16,466 killed in 2011. Let's talk about Mexico for a while, shall we?
Central America is still America, nothing was specified, north, south, or central, so it should be with in the bounds of the tread topic, right???
Or, better yet, let's talk about the Top Murder Rates in the World, shall we (yes, I will keep it to the America; http://worldnews.about.com/od/crime/tp/Top-Murder-Rates-In-The-World.htm El Salvador seems to hold top honors in this report. Honduras is 4th, Colombia is 5th, Venezuela comes in 6th, Guatemala is 7th., funny, I don't see the U.S. there. If we have SUCH a high homicide rate with firearms why aren't we listed even in the top 10???
I am not responding to any of your off topic posts. Either you remain on topic and stop posting about irrelevant crap, or leave the thread. As to your question, just deaths in 'normal' America. Not Mexico. I didn't say that in the OP because I didn't think Mexico was in America. Mexico I beliebe may have a higher crime rate, so if we get flooded with deaths there, it might skew the results.
Thank you for acknowledging Mexico higher crime rate even though it has the strictest gun laws in the Americas. Actually there are about 21 nations in the Americas. If I am going to play in your thread I will play by the rules. In future threads you might want to narrow that down to the United States of America or just the USA. Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (United States of America) Saturday March 1, 2012 Another Burglar Killed Jose Hernandez 24 was pronouced dead at the scene. Police say the homeowner Dianne Stracener was investigating noises when she encountered Hernandez. They became involved in a struggle an Mrs. Stracener shot him in self-defense.
www.kfor.com/news/local/kfor-anotherburglarkilledbreakingintohome-20120301,0,7371012.story Link to the above post if anyone would like to read more. Thankfully this elderly lady had the ability to protect herself. The link doesn't take you directly to story. You have to use the search box on the page it takes you to. Search for "another burglar killed" it will then take you to the story. I-Phone hard to post links from sorry.
But Mexico is in America, Central America but it wasn't specified which America. http://images.search.yahoo.com/imag...b=13cm3f1eh&sigi=11muqsv0s&.crumb=SinlNfqClhq http://www.worldatlas.com/webimage/countrys/camerica.htm http://www.worldatlas.com/webimage/countrys/sa.htm Makedde, you have North America, Central Americ, and South America. Lord, I can believe I'm giving geography lessons in this day and age! Now, Old What's his name didn't specify which America. North America consists of more than just the U.S.. If he had just wanted to talk about United States firearms deaths, why didn't he say so??? http://images.search.yahoo.com/imag...b=13jqa0v59&sigi=10nukrv71&.crumb=SinlNfqClhq
This makes two unrelated statements. The belief that guns are not required in public is to deny that there is a threat in public places. This is obviously false and numerous cases of people being murdered while in public where they might have been able to defend themselves can be presented. Should we post all of the violent killings that could have been prevented if the victim was armed? Obviously randomly shooting people is wrong but that has nothing to do with a person that is lawful and carrying a firearm legally solely for the purpose of self-defense. Should we deny a person the ability to defend themself? How does a 98 lb woman defend herself in a dark public parking lot against a 220 lb man that wants to rape and murder her? When that is explained to me then perhaps there's an argument against a law-abiding person carrying firearms in a public place but when we know that tasers and pepper-spray don't work then how can that woman defend herself in such a situation? It is ironic that some who would condemn the rape and murder of a woman would then want to take away the one effective means that she would have to defend herself against rape and murder. Give her a handgun and train her in how and when to use it and that rape and murder will not occur.
Yeah public places. http://www2.wnct.com/news/2012/mar/03/2/police-respond-shots-fired-shopping-mall-ar-2000234/ This is my local mall. These people had no business with a gun. We do have an issue in the United States but the issue is with illegal possession and non registered weapons. We need to enforce our laws, all of them, and stop all of this compassionate understanding (*)(*)(*)(*). We need to throw the book at people for possession of unregistered weapons and possession of a weapon that it is not legal for the individual to have. My kid could have been in that mall. Prison may not be the answer but a few weeks of hard labor may do it.
Most weapons in this country are non-registered. If you look at the recent Canadian decision to repeal their long gun registry due to cost an the fact only the law-abiding people obeyed it anyway. With our debt crisis we are in it would be hard to start another govt. agency with so many programs being cut already. The people in the story as you say were already breaking several laws. The weapon they were using was illegally stolen more than likely. The laws should be strictly enforced and prison sentences should be longer for violent offenders. You actually think a couple weeks hard labor will deter crime. Make an example out violent offenders. I agree compassion shouldn't be shown for people who endanger innocent lives. Knee jerk reactions to events like that can do more harm than good. Now back on topic. 2-29-12 Martinez, Georgia A man was killed after two men broke into a apartment. After a brief struggle with the renter. The renters 15 year old son fired at least two rounds killing one of the intruders. The other suspect ran away. The newspaper was the "Augusta Chronicle" story date 02-29-12.
