In all honestly if a person is caught speeding,in most cases they get a ticket. Many illegals are caught,and never deported.In the case of a speeder that person is accountable for there wrong doings. If speeding and they have a wreck,there liable for those damages.An illegal hops the border,and on average will cost taxpayers thousands of dollars and is never accountable for those damages. Not mention an illegal entry into the USA is more than just hopping over the border. Big difference.

 

My research shows liberals like illegals for 2 reasons.

1>Votes
2>low wage workers

Your research is flawed because the benefits of illegal immigration serve both parties...all people.

1. Votes?? Can you name a single 'reputable' source that shows data of how many illegal immigrants vote?

2. Low wage workers?? Wages in America, for unskilled workers, are low, and will remain low for decades to come, because we have millions more workers, no matter if they are legal or illegal, than we have jobs. If only you and others understood that high supply and lower demand equates to lower wages?

 

The $12/hour people also do harvesting.

The price of your lettuce is lower than it would be if farmers were required to pay $20/hour for unskilled labor. Of course when this happens you'll also be paying $10 for a BigMac!

Too bad you do not understand all the variables which effect the price of your lettuce in the store? The unskilled farm worker labor is a minor reason for the prices you see in the stores.

If you take the illegal worker out of the equation,you automatically create millions of jobs...RIGHT. But I'm sure your going to spin this with a reply like American won't do those jobs or th e wages are to low.

 

So your confirming that by hiring illegal immigrants to work has no effect on the price of the product...So why even hire them?

 

Out of curiosity AH...what do you believe should be done about your 'pitiful wages'? Do you believe the minimum wage should be higher? If so, to what $ amount?

In my firsthand experience, and I NEVER know who is illegal or legal, they all earn the same amount of wages; $12-$16/hour. If they even existed, white-bread American boys would also be paid the same wages.

All the day laborers we hire have been Hispanic. We never know the immigration status of day laborers. So we just hire whomever is available, and fact is, they are the ONLY people available to hire! We actually have zero choice in hiring. If you can possibly fathom this reality, you will see that many of us don't have a choice in hiring, and if we wish to remain in business, we hire whomever is available. I'm not a stupid person and in a heartbeat I would prefer English speaking workers...but they simply do not exist...

Illegal immigrants do take jobs from americans. Possibly not in terms of California farming but elsewhere they definitely do. My girlfriend is illegal from mexico, she has been set up with phony identification cards and works at a place that does not hire illegals if they know them to be illegal. She just told me about it a week ago because she felt bad that I dint even know her real name. Shes a very pretty 21 year old mexican girl and I really like her but this is kind of wierd even for me. She tells me everything now about how it works and what goes on in mexico. That is proof that illegals do take jobs from americans. Its not an agricultural job either, in fact, shes one of 2 mexicans that work there out of about 90 employees.

If an employer 'knowingly' hires illegal workers, then the laws will take care of it. In my situation as a farmer, regarding day-laborers, there is no mechanism that I can use to know the status of a worker within a few minutes. I actually believe most are legal, many have green cards, and surely some are illegal.

The video was not about 'overpopulation'. It was about immigrant overpopulation. Although all sectors will continue to increase, the video was about immigrants...

No offense to your girlfriend, but if she is working under pretences in which she appears legal, then she must be receiving pay and benefits commensurate with company policies and IS NOT receiving some under-the-counter cheap cash wages--right? And they would be withholding all applicable taxes. If this is true, then a legal American who wants a job at the same company, apparently cannot compete with the skills of an illegal worker. To me this says more about the American not being able to compete with illegals...
