The Carson campaign tweeted this: See anything wrong in the New England area? LOL! This was such a hoot, even WAPO picked up on this: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...and-put-a-bunch-of-states-in-the-wrong-place/ I created this thread to illustrate two points: 1.) Candidates need proofreaders who are really, really good. 2.) Something like this can make a candidate who not a dunderhead look like a total dunderhead. Discuss. Should the USA look like that? My opinion is that political teams should be smart enough to know how to draw the damned map correctly. Really. Sheesh.
I agree this is one of those things that will dog him as long as he runs in this election.... it's called an unforced error. But then again, it's VERY difficult to do. I'm thinking someone may have done this purposely to sabotage his campaign, maybe from inside of it. To incorrectly issue a map like that, it takes work to cut out Maine and the NE states and flip them. This sounds like someone is trying to make his campaign look stupid, and succeeded.
I don't actually think much effort is required to make Carson's campaign look stupid. The candidate is all that is required.
The concensus among people who are having lots of fun with this is that the new state should be called "Vermonticut"! On second thought, they could also call it "Connectimont"!! - - - Updated - - - Good posting. Even if someone were to wants to sabotage a Carson campaign, it still would have had to been an upper-up who clicked on send and as I wrote in the OP, campaigns need high-quality proofreaders. Sounds like the upper-ups are not the sharpest knives in the block. Thanks for making your comments. Nice to meet you. - - - Updated - - - Well, the line could maybe be just a tad in jest. The last I read, possessing a sense of humor is not, I repeat, is not against the law. Should you have difficulty recognizing humor, there are plenty of ways to get help. Good luck to you.
I'd say Carson is toast and his numbers are already dropping. I also note that our resident Carson cheerleader has disappeared, so he probably realizes that and has moved on.
I doubt this means much of anything other than give those who oppose Carson already another reason to oppose him. Remember President Obama's 57 state remark. Those who strongly oppose him still rag him on that. But to everyone else, perhaps outside of a chuckle, it was no big thing. Slip ups happen. Same here. Bottom line, Carson just pulled a funny.
Carson is but just one of many who suffer from an appalling degree of ignorance when it comes to geography. And even the professionals screw it up.
Uhm. no. Tu quoque arguments only weaken the cause.... - - - Updated - - - Yepp. But you gotta admit, it's a scream to look at!!! - - - Updated - - - LOL!!!
Yeah, stuff like this happens. You would think more thought would go into it. I suppose it was the Carson campaign rushing to get ahead of all the other candidates and they forgot proof reading. We have seen basically the same thing in the reporting of the news. Where one network is in such a hurry to scoop the other networks, they mess up and get the story wrong. Well, none of us are perfect. But a funny indeed.
I agree, and although I am having fun with this, there is a serious point, namely, that it only takes maybe a minute longer to correctly proof something before clicking "send". No one expects a candidate to be perfect and likely, Ben Carson did not even do this. Like I wrote in the OP title, it's about his campaign, not just about him as one single individual. Nice to hear from you, btw.
What is that thing up north? It looks like a few imaginary states are also saying "NO" to education...er... refugees.
So you said something stupid and are trying to make light of it. As for humor... that's taking place in yesterday's thread about this. (way to search before posting!)
If you find something stupid because you do not understand it and then try to attack a member instead of concentrating on the entire op, that's not my problem. I am not responsible for the ignorance of other people. - - - Updated - - - Oh, I'm pretty sure there are people who are brilliant in their field of study but dumb as a box of rocks when it comes to other stuff....
He retired June 20, 2013. But even scientists, baseball players and politicians when retired are still recognized for their professions and expertise. Not sure why it wouldn't apply to Carson as well.
