Yes, good article. Did Jeb Bush sign it into law??

William Blackstone, the great English jurist, argued famously that a true moral standard for our common law demands, from all of us, a principled, collective restraint: “Better that 10 guilty men escape punishment than that an innocent suffer.”

While the courts must think that way, in reality, I couldn't disagree more. Letting the guilty go free makes more victims, more innocents suffer.

The slippery slope of the government punishing innocent people is much more disturbing than criminals committing a few extra criminal acts before being caught.

Ya, do you care to give an answer now, or do you prefer offering more cryptic nonsense?

The quote you gave was very specific. It said better to let TEN guilty people go free than punish ONE innocent. Having a crime go unpunished hurts not only his current and future victims, but also is visible to other would-be perps. The crimes increase exponentially.

I didn't post the quote.. but you assume everything happens in a vacuum and nothing else will change if innocent are less likely to be convicted you assume the criminal element stays the same, the publics reaction to crime and those protecting us from it stays the same, but if innocent are MUCH MORE rarely prosecuted and convicted of crimes wouldn't that increase public trust in law enforcement, and the judicial system making folks much more likely to cooperate with said authorities, and decreasing crime on that end? Not to mention the overall fairness that the justice system will garner might make people less likely to even consider a life of crime in the first place.

Sorry, I didn't look at who posted what.

I'm sure you are aware that the prisons are chock full of "innocent" people?

I'd rather the truth be known and innocent people not go to jail. However, I'd rather go to jail than let 10 child molesters go free. Just my personal opinion.

Indeed, and with the results of the innocence project just with death row inmates (the most serious punishment levied with great discretion I would hope) some of those folks are innocent.
Perhaps that ratio is a bit high, but I admire your conviction offering up your innocent self. I'd like you to stay free and hope public trust helps the authorities get the molesters in an equally timely manner.

I rid of meaningless receipts like tht. Who really keep receipts for candy and 1 canned tea!? And most convenient stores do not even give you a receipt now unless a credit or debit card is used. I'm sure if Treyvon could see the future and knew what would happened, he would've kept the receipt (if he were given one) or better yet, he wouldve taken a detour back to his dad's house.

I know I don't. Who wants to keep a receipt for a bottle of drink?

I rarely keep my receipt after I buy some chips and a drink. the OP is stupid.

Tryavon was shot down in cold blood(2 shots) by the huge fat guy Zimmerman who could have held Trayvon down with one fat finger until the police came.

Zimmerman had murder on his mind that night. period
