NYC Dept. of Buildings: No Records for Pre-9/11 WTC Elevator Rebuild, One of the Largest, Most Sophisticated Ever -->15 Comments By Aidan Monaghan 9/11 Blogger July 20, 2011 Originally Published June 16, 2011 The New York City Department of Buildings (DoB) has reported within a June 6, 2011 Freedom of Information (FOI) response, that no records could be located regarding the following request for information pertaining to the massive elevator modernization project underway at World Trade Center buildings 1 and 2 until the very morning of September 11, 2001, one of the largest ever [1]. The DoB governs elevator construction and use within New York City. An April 15, 2011 FOI appeal request sought: With this evidence the main people who need to be contacted are the ones doing the elevator work. Because this is a public online investigation who is requesting those workers to reply to this post.
No records. Just part of the cleanup afterwards. Perhaps they were confiscated like Washington Hotel and gas station videos? Walks like a duck.........
Sorry but I meant specifically.. The NYDOB were asked for specific documents.. They said they didn't have THOSE documents.. Which document(s) do you claim they SHOULD have but are lying about?
The gas station cameras were NOT aimed across the highway at the Pentagon.. They were aimed at the license plates of cars at the pumps.
No kiddin'? ...and they can zoom in from satellites to see what brand of T shirt we're wearin', but, they need a cheap, undependable, out of focus camera(s) to watch the Pentagon huh? Wow. No wonder republicans say government is inefficient!
Well, seems to me somebody ought to be able to produce some sort of paperwork indicating elevator "maintenance" was going on in the supposedly, highly secured, important buildings. They CAN'T, is my point. Somebody scooped 'em up I guess?
They weren't asked for ANYTHING about maintanance though... They were asked for a few very specific documents, and they said they didn't have THOSE documents. So to pursue this avenue of inquiry, you should first ask yourself two questions.. What are the documents they SHOULD have... Have they been asked for THOSE documents.. Vague insinuations that they must be holding out on something will get you nowhere.. You need to learn about specifics about this maintanance that was done, and what records it will necessarily generate at the NYDOB
http://www.nyc.gov/html/dob/html/applications_and_permits/elevator_appl.shtml ELEVATORS Applications and Permits New Installations or Major Upgrades File an Elevator Application (EA) to install a new device or perform a substantial upgrade, alteration, replacement or modernization to an existing device.Alterations, Modernizations, Repairs or Replacements File an Elevator Building Notice (EBN) to remove or dismantle an existing device or perform a minor alteration, repair or replacement. All permits must be posted in public until the work has been completed and signed-off. Sign-Off InspectionsAfter completion of work performed under an EA or EBN, contact the Elevator Division for an inspection and test appointment. Upon successful completion, the device can be put into service. There would be permit documents, inpection documents and a final sign off for any elevator having had major upgrades. All of these documents are public records and should be readily available upon request
Typically this stuff is public record, but it does seem that the info isn't readily available. That is the point the OP is trying to get across
I would love to see evidence of a building that was build according to the permit set. I've worked in the industry almost 20 years now and never seen it happen. The only elevator alterations I've read about were in a USA today article talking about safety locks that were put in place on elevator doors. Is there evidence of some other upgrade that took place?
Who is talking about a building permit? The OP is pointing out that there is no public record (required documentation) available for work on the elevators that was known to have been done prior to 9/11. Elevators are certified, and recertified when major work has been done. They are typically inspected on a schedule determined by the AHJ.
You just said that these "major upgrades" are "known to have been done".. If that is the case then we would know things about it... Does somebody claim to have carried out the upgrades? Did somebody say they witnessed the elevators getting major upgrades? What do you know about this work that was supposed to have been carried out that has you so convinced this dept. is hiding something?
Public records are there for viewing by the general public at their discretion. Nothing has to be right or wrong or hidden. If the work was done, then there should be a record.
Yes IF the work was done... But you know NOTHING about any work that was done. So how do you know this work was done, and that they're covering it up?
