Why are States so concerned about gun rights? Is it because so many want to take those rights away? What do you guys think?
Alot do want to take them rights away. But more of us want to defend those rights. And are starting to with more vigor than ever.
Between this and cannabis, tensions between the states and the Federal government are rapidly approaching the point at which we'll see some of them secede again.
That seems to be just a feel good law. Theoretically the Feds could arrest and prosecute people for violation of the federal laws in federal court and imprison them in federal prisons upon conviction even if the person was 100% innocent under State law. The only way to ensure that people fully enjoy their rights is for jurors to find them not guilty of any laws that violate those rights in State and Federal courts.
I certainly hope so. The federal government tries to stand between people and freedom. It's gotten way too big and needs to be toned down some.
Good luck with that nullification crap. You have got to be the King of Dumb to actually believe that a state legislature is really going to get away with telling the Feds that you can ignore the law of the land in favor of the law of just one state (or two or ten states). That's been tried and beat down some 150 years ago. Some folks just don't learn. Makes no difference what the state law is about: if it goes against federal law, it's not going to fly.
Thats what they said about marijuana, when the states acted, the feds very quietly decriminalized it.
