Hilarious. Prisons have work release programs already, and the inmate population participates voluntarily, sometimes so much so that there is a "waiting list" for enrollment.

    This would be no different.

    smh...

There is no relevance to my feelings on freedom here. You were making a case for freedom...for people who don't currently have it. Seems freedom really isn't a valid concern here.

infrastructure is not automated, President Trumps wall creates higher wages for hard labor work since even the criminals don't work for as little as illegal immigrants.

this will work for the ex convicts to have living wages after they leave prison, but inside of prison the private prisons will steal the labor profits as all businesses do with illegal immigrant labor.

it may not be automated but it no longer requires a large group of laborers. your wall is not a economic boom project, let alone tax payers will foot the bill, let alone higher wages:)

Convicts should earn their room, board, and healthcare. Taxpaying Americans don't need to shoulder that burden.

Prisons should be privatized removing the taxpayer burden from the cost to warehouse murders, rapists, thieves, and other convicts.

The income earned through the convict labor should go toward paying for their residential costs of staying in the iron bar hotel. Private enterprise should be able to earn a competitive margin of profit.

The CNN video is propaganda. They can't even refer to an illegal as an illegal. They can't even refer to an illegal as an illegal.

That's so silly it shouldn't deserve an answer. So someone is on welfare in Maine but a California farmer needs some lettuce pickers. The person from Maine has to go to California and do stoop labor harvesting lettuce.

During WWI the Southern farmers had to import blacks from the Caribbean Islands to do farm labor because so many local blacks moved North to get better jobs.

Sure I have, although it's completely irrelevant to this topic. You stated that maybe we should have them work for the farmers, but most of what yall refer to as corporate welfare are in the form of tax breaks, tax cuts, or subsidies for oil exploration etc. Asking prisoners to put in a days work seems to be causing some outrage and offending some of you.

I love people who say that prisoners have a sweet deal other than not having their freedom. Yeah like having to watch your back every minute of the day is a really sweet deal.

We don't need prison labor to replace criminal illegal aliens. It's just another lie that we have to have them for ag labor. Less than 2% of our crops are hand-picked now, and automation is progressing nicely for that as well. We don't need to be handing out green cards, either, for any job description, including tech jobs.

I don't love them, they're full of (*)(*)(*)(*) and probably tortured kittens for fun as children, but the dire need for prison reforms is another topic.

At least that type of "slave" labor is still legal.

After reading that article it seems there's a perfect argument for using prison labor. And I'm surprised the libs aren't up in arms about the way those foreign 'slave laborers' are treated. But I guess as long as it's not in their backyard if they don't see it, it didn't happen....

Not even close. You are comparing tax breaks to corporations that sell goods and employ citizens to prisoners.
