    Good morning, folks!

Ugh, lime in the coconut reminds me of a wayward Christmas present I got. GS & another roomie were out shopping for me on Christmas Eve and I decided to call 'em and give 'em a hint (so they didn't get me 6 pair of pink Cheryl Tieg socks like they did one yr).

So I tell the GS, "I'd love to have some fancy soap... you know, like those you helped me wrap for my friends at work?" He's all excited and says, "Thx for the suggestion! Glad you told us!"

Then he calls back 10 min later and sez, "Would you rather have coconut or vanilla scented soap?"

I flinched a little and told him to use his own judgment, that I'd like to be at least halfway surprised by my gift!

They bought a set of bath gel & lotion (NOT the fancy bar of soap I asked for) -- and it's LIME & COCONUT scented and too cheap to actually smell good... so I have it sitting in my shower, unused... but every morning I see it and thru my brain goes,

"YOU PUT THE LIME IN THE COCONUT AND DRINK IT ALL UP..."

    LOL

    Spare me, please!

Notice that turntable. It almost passed me bye. It's a Garrard.
I had that exact model,by golly.I looked at the record for a sec and
said, gee that stylis { the part which houses the needle }.That
stylis is what I had.And the platter looks right.Make no mistake.
It's a manual. My Dad gave me his turntable after I built a heathkit
Amplifier w/ Heathkit speakers.I also had an AM/FM tuner.
I built the Heathkit the summer of my 8th grade at our summer
home. You got plastic bags with little diodes, capacitors and
    transisters.A circuit board and a schematic { Blueprint }.
I had that Heathkit and speakers and turntable all through
High School and then college. The Amp was 30 watts.Probably
conservatively rated, more like 50 watts.Man did it blast out tunes.
The Garrard was bulky and had a nice wood frame and thick
    platter with rubber mat.
What Luck. Now I hope no one drums up a pic of the kind of underwear
I had.It wasn't hammy down from the old man,but coulda been.

I love (*)(*)(*)(*) on the shingle! Except, when I worked for the Sheriff's office in my hometown, the trustees would make it with sausage. Mmmmmm....I got to enjoy it every morning if I wanted.

Oh come on...tender strips of dried beef?

Tender and dried? Are we talkin' beef jerky with thick milk gravy over toast? In a boil bag? Ok Id still try it. Like to be polite. Real polite. lol

I could go for a small slice of panettone right now. I should go to the Italian store. Nah...think shrink. lol

It's thin slices of dried beef - kinda like beef jerky, but not as thick or chewy.

You can use the stuff SMW posted a picture of, or you can use Buddig meat.

The basic recipe is the same as for biscuits and sausage gravy, except the gravy isn't as thick as for B&G, it's got a little more milk in it. Use chipped beef instead of sausage, and serve over toast instead of biscuits.

SOS was something that we used to get served on midrats (midnight rations - the late night meal for the duty crew) because it was simple to make, and not a lot of clean-up of the galley was required.

The way I've always had it and made it myself was to crumble a tube of breakfast sausage into a skillet, fry it up till brown, then make the cream gravy in the same pan. The grease from the sausage makes the base you need to add the flour, then the milk.

Man....I want some sausage and biscuits now.

I've re-heated several sandwiches on the exhaust manifold of my truck engine, it works quite well! :)

Meat, cheese, and some creamy Italian dressing on a sandwich roll, wrap it up tightly in aluminum foil, stick it on the exhaust manifold and drive about 30 miles... instant hot lunch!

Thanks, Falena, she's pretty special. I don't know if we could collaborate on a book, but it would be fun to write down everything I experience on this trip. Hopefully it will be great!
