According to the NY Times, Ted Cruz will be formally announcing his run for presidency; in which he hopes to raise 40 to 50 million dollars and take control of this race very early. Mr. Cruz has been in the news lately with his ideas on how to "better" our country. Such as getting rid of the IRS, Obamacare; just to name a few. There has been also some animosity among Ted Cruz and his party due to the government shutdown in 2013.

I honestly think that if Ted Cruz is elected into office by some miracle, we should prepare for the worst. It is going to be a shameful filled 4 years. What makes Ted Cruz so appealing to some right-winged individuals?

What makes the loser in the current presidency any appealing? Ted Cruz is one of many neo-con lite members whose trying to toe the line between Populism and Cronyism. While for example I approve of getting rid of the worst economic law in US History(the ACA). And i'd love to minimize the role of the IRS but not to eliminate it completely. Just make a National Flat Tax, that solves the problem completely. Only Liberals don't approve because if taxed as a percentage of income, the wealthy won't "pay enough".

But really, "enough" is what the government deems enough. In reality, it should be only what the government requires. The whole can of worms at that point being, and the Founders knew it as well: With all of the social programs, what will 'enough" be? Government gets to expand as long as the ciitzenry demands free goods.

The shutdown should correctly be blamed on the Democratic Senate, to quote John Boehner: The House did its job. They funded all of the requisites of government, they just didn't fund the parts that Obama and the Democrats wanted and THAT is a part of government. That's why coalitions are formed, that's why debates are had. The idea that Obama and the Democrats were "guaranteed" funding of the ACA mess because a previous congress signed it into law is absurd.

If that were the case, Dred Scott should've never been overturned. We should've never reproached the South for owning slaves. But we know that's not the case, laws change based on the opinion of society. That's how it works, that's how it always worked until the Rules for Radical brats actually got into legislative power.

And in all irony, do remember: Later on, Obama consented to the very same provisions that were key to the whole discussion: The provision that the same privileges afforded to government(as well as the 1-yr delay) be afforded to the citizens. If Dems had consented to these changes, there's no shutdown whatsoever.

Ignorance by a party that has proven itself incapable of government. Why should Republicans negotiate with those to whom are on an inferior level when it comes to philosophical and political understanding? Until Democrats increase their economic, political and social intelligence there will always be a disparity on major issues.

If you think the rift between Congress and the White House is bad now ... well at least the Democrats mostly support Obama. About 2/3 of the Republicans can't stand Cruz and the remaining Democrats abhor him. That is not a recipe for success for the Republicans.

At this point, I just don't care. We can't get an American to fix us, maybe we need a non American to do it.

I've been watching Cruz suck up to the tea party for years. It's practically embarrassing....the brown-nosing by Cruz. To top it off, he's not even a natural born American. I wouldn't want him leading this country. There's just something off about the guy. And I'm a Republican.

one thing for certain is we have had a president that hates the middle class and rural Americans for the last 6 whether he is a citizen or not. Only people he seems to love are non citizens, the leeches of the welfare society and the ultra rich who send the Democratic party money

I genuinely don't understand how his supporters get past this fact. Weren't they the same bunch accusing President Obama of not being a natural born citizen? And that's for someone who was born in the States! There's no disputing that Cruz was born in Canada... the hypocrisy of Cruz and his throng are just too much to overlook.

There's a long running tread here that Cruz admits he's not eligible and goes on to reference Minor V Happersatt..

this is good for the Democrats.

the more insane extremists that run on the GOP side, the more Dems look rational and grounded

and yes, Cruz is not a natural born citizen of the USA

Well that thread clarifies the applicability of the term "natural born citizen," but it doesn't explain how all those birthers are going to rationalize voting for Cruz.

Cruz won't win so I wouldn't be to concerned about it. I doubt he'll even make it past the primaries.

I guess we have a new generation of birthers in here.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natural-born-citizen_clause

The weight of legal and historical authority indicates that the term "natural born" citizen would mean a person who is entitled to U.S. citizenship "by birth" or "at birth," either by being born "in" the United States and under its jurisdiction, even those born to alien parents; by being born abroad to U.S. citizen-parents; or by being born in other situations meeting legal requirements for U.S. citizenship "at birth."

Cruz is the only reasonable adult in the Senate besides Mike Lee and half of Rand Paul. Otherwise the rest of the morally bankrupt political body is driving the country off the fiscal and cultural cliff. You think Clinton or Bush will save us from our fiscal crisis? I feel as though most Americans don't care about the debt and are happy to someday let it blow up in our face. Cool.

I welcome the announcement. I wouldn't vote for Cruz under any circumstances, but his announcement will put pressure on other candidates to start announcing on both sides so we will have a better idea of who the candidates will be instead of just randomly speculating with the gag in our throats 2016 could be another Bush v. Clinton race. It will start to add focus to the national dialogue.

I wouldn't hold your breath. Cruz is too far right to win anything other than a hot dog eating contest.

When progs give advice to conservatives as if the progs actually care about a healthy opposing party, conservatives know to do the opposite.

    - - - Updated - - -

Prepare for the worst? LOL, we have the worst in the White House right now. Cruz would be a huge improvement, and the more hatred the socialist democrats spew the more we know they are afraid.

I would be willing to bet he doesn't make it far in the Republican Primaries.

    - - - Updated - - -

Wow, then we know the right is scared (*)(*)(*)(*)less of the Dems, because hatred is all the right have spewed. Thanks for letting everyone know you are scared.

Cruz's polling is so weak he is a non factor other than to give the liberal press someone to hate on, he won't be any more a factor than O'Malley will for the Dems. Enjoy your haste thread libs

There's a Catch 22 for Carnival Cruz: The same hyper-partisan wacko birds that he gets wee wee'd up are also "Birther" crackpots.

Of course, neither the moneyed elite that decide GOP nominations, nor Rove and the RNC, nor McConnell and the establishment's boys in Congress would ever allow Carnival to be their Willard '16.

Let's just hope he doesn't throw another tantrum and try to shut down Yellowstone again.

I have no idea if you include it in your vast left-wing conspiracy, but it's certainly interesting seeing the comments in The Blaze:

    • To me, it’s very sad. As a life-long conservative Republican, and TEA party backer, I am appalled at the so-called “Constitution-loving” TEA party backing Cruz for president. He is NOT a natural-born citizen as required by the Constitution. Born in Canada to an American mother makes him a citizen, but his Cuban immigrant father was not a citizen when Ted was born, so Ted is not a natural-born citizen. Rafael Cruz, Sr. didn’t become a citizen until 2005. Obama was never eligible, even if born in Hawaii, because his “father” wasn’t a citizen. Rubio and Jindal were both born in the U.S., but their respective parents were not citizens, only green card holders, therefore, Marco and Bobby are not natural-born citizens, either. What has happened to Americans that they are willing to go against what our founders wanted for this nation? Two wrongs don’t make a right! I love what Cruz says, but he is being dishonest about his eligibility. Shame on him and those who want him for president.

    • I had a dream several months back that I saw him speaking to the American People a little more grey and a little more stout – it seemed as though he had been President for several years and very well may have been into his second term.

    • Finally, a candidate for American patriots.

    • God bless you President Ted Cruz.!!!
      A real man and patriot.

    • Our Mr. Obama is leaving the world burning and in Chaos. President Cruz has a giant deadly mess to clean up.
May God have mercy on us.

    • Just in time, a leader not on team Satan.
All Hell will be against Ted, but they don’t have anything on him, and prayers and God’s grace he does have behind him.
Please, for the love of all that is holy……Pray for President Cruz and our country.
