My dad lectured about this at the Air War College. It was a Nazi competition to develop a high speed heavy bomber.

German general Erich von Manstein was and still is considered one of the most brilliant heads of WWII.

    Anyone can 'join'.

    Your question has stumped me.

    Anyone else know?

There is one documented instance of Japanese landing on Australian soil during WWII. Where did that occur?

I believe it was the Northern Territory. It was a recon party. They found aboslutely nothing due to the sparseness of the population.

It is also thought that some of the midget sub crews from the attack on Sydney survived and had to walk through Sydney to get to a rescue point for pick up.

I don't know of anyway to pose this as a question that could be answered.

I was reading last night a book on Americans who fought in the Battle of Britain, and there was an account of a German bomber outfitted with a flamethrower as an experiment as a rear gun. I had never heard of a flamethrower used in the air like this before and thought I would share.

    A flamethrower on an airplane?

No wonder the Germans lost the war...

It wasn't a flamethrower... It was just the tail gunner passing gas,,,

During the Blitz, the Brits considered the idea of flying above German bombers and dropping sand to clog their engines and crushed stone to break windshield glass. Neither side had a monopoly on weird ideas.

Source is wrong. Whoever wrote it was confused.

It actually first appears in the movie Tora! Tora! Tora!

It's not actually a real historical quote but has since Tora! Tora! Tora! confused people into believing it was a real quote as the makers of Tora! Tora! Tora! claimed that they got it from his diary, but no one has ever actually managed to find it.

I looked it up and I'm getting either Yamamoto or there's no single definitive source of the quote. What's the answer?

It first appears in the movie Tora! Tora! Tora! There is zero evidence of it before that movie. The writers of that movie claimed that they found it in his diary........ which he didn't have, and that they have letters where he said it, which they can't find.
