Will this offer of peace with Israel, an offer of recognition of Israel even in the lands it stole prior to 1949 amount to anything amongst neoZionists ? No. Zionism is rooted in aggression. It is a doctrine of ethnic cleansing and it cannot survive peace.
Would the Palestinian refugee diaspora vote to exclude themselves from their own homes, the homes from which they were driven in 1948 ? No. Their right to return to those homes is underpinned by international law.
Would they have to give up that right if the result of a nation-wide referendum agreed that they should ? I'm afraid that they would. There would have to be adequate compensation, of course, as identified under UN resolution 194 but a referendum would bring the issue to a close, legally. How fortunate for the extremists amongst them then that the Knesset is controlled by extremists who would not accept a referendum even in principle, let alone the results of one. That's fascism in action and American fascists will applaud neoZionist intransigence and desire for further ethnic cleansing and theft.

Bump. The United Nations resolution on the recognition of Palestine approaches. Over 130 countries have already declared approval.

Jerusalem is not, or should not be given to the Palestinians as their capital. It should always belong to Israel.

I don't see why Israel should give back any land. It was taken during the war of 67 which was not started by Israel.

There are Arab homes in Jerusalem that are 500 years old. East jerusalem should be Palestinian.

Hamas and Fatah were in Cairo earlier in the week talking about the unity government.

I saw Salam Fayaad on TV last week saying he was willing to step aside as one of the demands Hamas has made to move forward but Abbas was insisting he stay.

Seems like Abbas maybe needs to move over too then to get things going.

However if Haneya has said this it seems that the Cairo talks (sans Mubarak et Suleiman) are actually working instead of just being the US - Tel Aviv orchestrated big show.

All it takes is for the USA to finally choose the right path. The path which is the moral one. The path that for so long they couldn't see in the dark when everyone else had headlights shining on it.

    No VETO.

Texas is a big old state with plenty of space so why not move those lovely settlers into your streets and towns.

Good post. Aye to that. Otherwise there's no option but the sidelining of America. That's just one veto away.

The path of the U.S. has always been to support Israel. No need to change that. Your 'morality' is selective.

Morality would also support Arab Christians and those who have lived there continually for a couple thousand years.

The blockade of the port of Eilat by the Egyptians was what started the war. That is an act of war.

Sorry, when you go to war, you get the spoils of war. Jerusalem was Israel's before the 67 war. She had lost it by conflict also.

I heard him say he would consider some kind of land swap involving the 67 borders. But I have also heard him say, Jerusalem is not on the table. As it should be.

Jerusalem is occupied territory. There are NO embassies in Jerusalem, not even the embassy of the US of AIPAC.

It was an excuse... No Israeli flagged ships had used the straits for 13 months.

Its still a blockade. Its a cause. Whenever anyone blockades anothers port they better consider its an act of war.
