    Ahmadinejad allies charged with sorcery

Iranian power struggle between president and supreme leader sees arrests and claims of undue influence of chief of staff

Close allies of Iran's president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, have been accused of using supernatural powers to further his policies amid an increasingly bitter power struggle between him and the country's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Several people said to be close to the president and his chief of staff, Esfandiar Rahim Mashaei, have been arrested in recent days and charged with being "magicians" and invoking djinns (spirits).

Ayandeh, an Iranian news website, described one of the arrested men, Abbas Ghaffari, as "a man with special skills in metaphysics and connections with the unknown worlds".

WTF? Just when you thought Iran could not get anymore F-ed up, they go and pull this. Well, I'm sure the penalty is the old tried and true beheading.

I'm honestly curous -- when was the last time someone got accused of witchcraft in the United States? I mean, on a legal basis.

EDIT: Wikipedia claims it was in 1878, in Ipswich.

I'm thinking pretty low. You never see them cast fireball or lightning, do you?

People need to understand something. The supernatural is real. This world belongs to the enemies of G-d, and they put into power those who serve them.

Truth really is stranger than fiction.

Wow, this is sad, but extremely funny at the same time.

So, they will behead the wizards for using supernatural powers?

    Bwaaahahahahaahahahaahahahahahh!

    I KNOW!

When Armageddon comes, I am getting to be the Supreme Master of the city of Barstow,CA.

I know, I know, it is not very big, but all the Evangelicals and Fundamentalist Christians have qualified for the big cities like Los Angeles and Atlanta with their brilliant campaigns of Evil, like putting unbaptized babies in hell, using oppressive rhetoric encouraging bullies to harass gay teenagers into suicide, and having the elderly eat dog food while we spend 2.4 billion dollars per war plane to conquer terrorists who are using box cutters!

Who can beat such evil genius? :bump:

No they are going to drown him. If he survives, he is a wizard and they are going to burn him. If he does not survive, he was inocent.

Wow, I'm surprised neither of the Iranian apologists haven't bombarded this thread yet to show support to this tyrant.

Maybe because most of us "apologists" think the guy is a dick and would be glad if he was ousted, whether by the Ayatollah or by popular revolution. Not wanting Iran attacked doesn't mean we are in love with Ahmadinejad.

Perhaps if Bush hadn't been such a tool and gone with the axis of evil speech after Iran's moderate leaders had assisted with Afghanistan and wanted to assist in Iraq, maybe there wouldn't have been a reaction against the moderates. One really has to question wtf the Bush admin. was thinking, surely the moderates in Iran were to be encouraged and nurtured, especially as they seemed to be willing to help and willing to re-establish diplomatic status.

    What a chance squandered

Get back to your Harry Potter films .
But let's pray that you never hold any position of responsibility in your life --- people holding your sort of view are the worst imaginable to inflict on others who often behave in the most gullible ways when they think they are pressured .
The Messiahs include the likes of George Bush and our very own Tony Bliar---- deluded people doing God's work and knowing better than "you and I ". The Brain Washed .

Agreed, Klipkap. Such people should be removed from office.

    http://voices.washingtonpost.com/political-bookworm/2010/04/reagan_and_the_occult.html
    # Ronald Reagan had an interest in lucky numbers. He also had an interest in newspaper horoscopes
    # In spring of 1988, White House spokesman Marlin Fitzwater acknowledged publicly what journalists had whispered for years: Ronald and Nancy Reagan were devotees of astrology
    # Biographer Edmund Morris noted Reagan’s fondness for apocryphal tales and his “Dalíesque ability to bend reality to his own purposes.”

Yikes!!! It is worse than we ever thought!!

Unfortunately, most of the Republican candidates for President have the same world view as Ivor.
