Please respond to the survey. This is not scientific or official by any means!

You can do your own research, but it is pretty clear that more gun control does very little to deter crime. In fact, many studies have shown that more gun control leads to more crime. The Washington D.C. and Chicago gun bans are perfect examples. Those were the only two cities in the U.S. that banned handguns outright, and subsequently they became the top two murder cities in the country.

    Thanks for participating!

I'm not in support of outright bans, but I would like to see a bit more regulation as to their sale - gun shows, for instance, typically don't do background checks in a lot of states.

    this is incorrect.

if you purchase a new firearm from a dealer at a show then its the same check as going to the store and making a purchase. I have purchased one hand gun (.357 Tarus revolver) and one rifle (WASR), at a gun show here in VA, both required federal background checks, and both took about 3 hours before i could make the purchase.

Since this is a federal issue, I do not think there is even one state where you can purchase a new firearm at a gun show from a dealer without a check.

I would love for you to show me 3 of these "alot of states" that you are talking about, because I do not know of "any states" that one can make a purchase like this.

Washington, Oregon, and Montana don't do background checks at gunshows I believe.

I am having trouble finding anything about this. The background checks are a federal thing, and not a state thing. If you are buying from an FFL then you have to have a background check regardless of what state you are in.
I think you have gun-shows confused with private transfers. A private seller can sell their firearms to another private person in many states (I think 43/50), without a background check as easily as selling a bicycle or another owned item.
For example I purchased a semi-automatic M4 3 days ago from a friend. I drove to the friend’s house, we negotiated a price, I gave him the money, he gave me the M4, and the deal was done. Its just like buying anything from him. It was easy and simple and no big deal. Now I have to find some ammo.

Ayuh,... Most all the weapons in my arsenal are private transfered...
I've bought a couple, new, from FFLs...
Most were bartered for,... a few inherited.... some cash between friends...

    None I haven't shot,... ;)

If the progressive liberals get their way,...
None of that would be possible...
Not even Dad's or Granddad's Winchesters...

What are the crime statistics using a firearm in these states per 1,00 citizens compared to other states than firearm have strict gun control laws like New Jersey, Illinois and New York.

the loop hole is purchases from private collectors at the shows. they are legal transactions, but dont have to do any of the background checks or possible permit checks that the dealers have to do. you give them your money, they give you the gun, and thats it.

I went with less gun control, but I'm in a pretty restrictive state to start with.

They haven't gotten rid of my ability to keep arms, but you pretty much can't actually bear them. So I've got about half of my second amendment rights here.

Evidence from Kwon and Baack does confirm that those areas with more restrictive gun control legislation do indeed (ceteris paribus) have lower homicide rates. Those supporting 'less gun control' are therefore essaentially saying 'higher homicide rates because..."

    My stance on Gun Control?

It's a moot point and settled Constitutional Law finally. Glad for that. It's about time someone in the city got tired of all the crime, violence and other results that is life in leftwing urban utopias across the country and sued to exercise his rights.

    >>>Shehyaa, as if DC and Chicago never had a murder before the handgun bans. Those two cities have ALWAYS been at or near the top of the chart, which is why the bans were put into place. You do recall the St. Valentine's Day Massacre, correct?

That being said, I'm a gun owner but I think the gun 'culture' is sick.

Only FFLs in all 50 States are required to do background checks. Many do not require this when sold privately. Background checks are fine, but many criminals acquire their weapons through less than legit means.

I am of the opinion that the vast majority of gun laws, in any country, are examples of the State wrongfully interfering in their citizens' right to self defense and their duty of national defense.

How does it work in Canada?

Criminals and guns = murder and mayhem wherever you go.

Even higher that LA, Detroit, and New York. Washington has already experienced lower crime rate since the ban was over-turned. There are sure to be similar results in Chicago. I also do not believe that Capone and his thugs followed any laws.

    You'll have to explain this.
