Poll for the pro lifers mainly, but choicers may answer as well.

We've had the lifers here claiming that if a woman doesn't want a baby, she should keep her legs closed. Fair enough then. So what is your opinion of a woman who never wants to be a parent? Should she remain abstinent her entire life because if she has sex (even using contraception) there is a small chance she might get pregnant?

Note - sterilisation is not an option as no doctor will perform this operation if the woman is of child bearing age - she may change her mind.
So the only option is to risk it or to remain celibate.

What man would penetrate a woman who told him she wished to remain childless?

My parents are good friends with quite a few married couples who did not want and chose to never have children. There are surprisingly many couples who feel this way or at least a lot around where I live.

There are many interesting ways for a woman and a man to achieve orgasm. A knowledgeable man can satisfy any woman without penis insertion into a vagina and a knowledgeable woman can bring a man to orgasm without any penetration at all. (no sodomy, no cunnilingus etc).

Heck Playboy Magazine made a fortune on their centerfold alone...LOL

Love, understanding and awesome respect for your partner is the real key, not the specific mechanics.

Why would a man penetrate a woman if she told him not to? Wouldn't that be rape? Only a criminal would do that. Most men are not criminals.

It's not illegal, but have fun finding a doctor who will perform that on a woman with no kids and under the age of 40 or so.

So are we now admitting that abortion is a form of birth control?

Some men have no desire to father any children.

I don't buy for one second that it's difficult at all.

Then you haven't been paying attention.

"“[Planned Parenthood of Boston**] said it was much too permanent and weren’t going to give it to me, plus my insurance wasn’t going to cover it,” recalls Green. What’s more, according to Green, “It was all and only about my age.” She was twenty-two at the time.
Green’s experience is not that unusual. Though no actual laws have ever been put into place, most OBGYNs refuse to provide women under thirty with permanent forms of contraception. Dr. Daniel Wiener, assistant professor of obstetrics and gynecology at McGill University in Montreal, is one such doctor."

It's even difficult to get certain kinds of birth control (IUD) if you haven't had kids. I've also heard of young childless men having difficulty finding a doctor that will perform a vasectomy.

I'm pretty sure it's always been a form of birth control...as it controls birth. =/

It's certainly not the most effective choice of birth control due to the cost and invasive nature of the procedure though.

How many children do you have?

Do you think that sexual intimacy is ONLY for procreation?

So find another doctor. There are millions of them, you can't tell me that you can't find one that will do it. If you can't, you aren't looking very hard. If you aren't looking very hard, you aren't very serious about it.

I didn't say that NO doctors would do it, I said it's difficult. You said you don't believe that it's difficult. Which, well, you're wrong.

I don't know what doctors you go to, but where I live I have to make an appointment and show up to their office for said conversation.

Yeah, you're right, it's really easy to make appointments, go to doctors, and drive all over creation to be turned down over and over.

If you don't want to have a conversation, why are you still here?
It's not easy to find a doctor to sterilize a young childless person, and if you can't see that I guess there's no point in trying to explain it.
