This is fear mongering by the right wing as raising taxes will not cause the rich to leave the country.

US is the biggest market in the world, where do they think they will go ?

Taxes will never be raised to a point where they will make less than in another part of the world and they are pulling a big bluff on the American people with the help of republicans for more money.

If slightly higher taxes will cause the wealthy to move than good riddance. We don't want citizens with so little patriotism that they would forgo fighting the changes and simply leave.

I say shake hands with them and wish them all the best in their new country; wherever that ends up being.

It's one of the stupidest Tea Party memes ever.

Basically it's saying that the top brackets don't care about this country and only stay here to make even more and more money. If they face any burdens (even ones that wouldn't effect their lifestyle in the slightest, like a higher marginal rate), they pick up their marbles and leave. Once can only imagine what these cowards would do in a war.

I would think that's an argument for taxing them more, but Tea Parties have a certain cognitive laxity that prevents them from thinking beyond their talking points.

What the mega wealthy should realize is the reality that the higher they are taxed, the more the currency flows through the society, and ultimately arrives right back into their accounts again. If more people at the bottom have more money to spend, then more small business will grow to meet the new demand when those people spend the money. And many others would have incentive to start their own business, or improve their own skills. The anxiety of basic survival would be removed when a small, but steady income is guaranteed, much like a dividend check every month like the Wallstreet crowd enjoys.

The economy is like a combustion engine. All the parts no matter how large or small, require lubrication to function., and gas to combine with spark and air. The wealthy represent the gas tank, and the oil pan. Government represents the oil pump and the fuel pump. Gas, oil, air, represent the resources. The spark is the incentive of the American citizen to participate.

    This.

If your patriotism is directly tied to your bank account, you are a worthless (*)(*)(*)(*) and need to get the hell out of this country.

Small business owners are billionaires? You must live in a very odd town.

When was the last time a billionaire opened up a mom and pop grocery store?

It's great to have an idiot passing on his wisdom. For many wealthy people a lot of their money has already left. Some wealthy people have left New York over taxes. And some, like Senator Kerry, go to great lengths to avoid paying taxes now. And, there are a lot of lovely places in the world where they can live and be taxed less.

The liberals now are bleeding the rich and they're convinced that it can be endless. At some point, the cow dies and, gasp, the liberals will have to start paying taxes.

So you agree that the rich hate America and just want to make money.

Thanks for clarifying your opinion. I agree.

The wealthy have tax shelters. The liberal Democrats will never remove them.
Tax rates are a chimera for the foolish.

Then you shouldn't oppose increased tax rates on the top bracket.

I'm glad you're on board with that.

All your statements are fallacies since more and more companies are outsourcing their jobs or moving their industries to more economically free countries such as Hong Kong while the taxes in the US keep escalating.

The argument for why taxes is not theft is because you can leave the country at anytime. If you're a large company and you're being taxed, you can go somewhere else and not pay those taxes (although you'd pay other taxes). You want to force companies to pay taxes and then outlaw their alternatives. This is, by definition, theft.

That depends on the tax. If you tax land, it doesn't matter if the rich leave (they won't), because the land can't leave.

Lots of them have already taken the money they stashed from tax cuts and dropped out and are living in places like Nicaragua:

    http://www.alloexpat.com/nicaragua_expat_forum/

The rich are already leaving even with taxes at the lowest levels in decades. Or maybe I should say because of them. I still can't figure out how the supply-siders argue that tax cuts incentives harder work when folks takes their tax cut savings, retire earlier, and bolt out of the country to cheaper living.

The well to do and business already leave states so poorly run that their greed defines them. I am not sure why folk expect a different result if they are robbed by the national government.

Being patriotic has little to do with having your pocket picked.

If they outsource American jobs they will ruin their biggest customer base.

It looks like a scare tactic for the republican agenda.
