    Did you miss globalisation?

Even the collapse of Greece could send the world into another recession.

America's economy plunged into recession 3 years ago, and almost the entire world followed. The only thing that saved Australia really was China's stimulus package.

If the American economy was to fail, China would be up (*)(*)(*)(*) creek sans paddle. It would drastically affect the world economy, Australia would not, could not, be immune.

Australia is a Capitalist nation, we're not socialists.

    Hey ziggy

lets not forget Kevin Rudds 42 billion stimulus package that went straight to the people of Australia.

Credit where credit is due my friend no matter what colour your stripes are.

He could have given it all to the banks like all the other Presidents and PM's around the world.

Obviously Kev was not the bankers golden boy and look where it got him.

    About this thread.

Well you would hope that our government has some sort of contigency plan if the worst happens.

Otherwise we will die of starvation and i cant imagine the violence that will be going on.

If they haven't even thought of about it and what measures they will take, i'm sorry to say that thats how much they care.

    LOL

    That's a first.

The 2nd worst PM ever got knifed because he wasn't the bankers golden boy.

Well that's the biggest stretch ever.

Well oxyboy Brutus plunged his knife into Julius Ceasar because Ceasar took over the money and made it plentiful for the people.

Guess who hired Brutus and his cronies to kill Ceasar, the cash collectors of course or today better known as the bankers.

Who killed Abe Lincoln and why? same sh!t

Look at the US wall street runs their economy not the government or Obama, look at the people that Obama has advising him and in the top positions, its wall street full stop.

So you can say all you want to about Kevin Rudd BUT one thing he wasn't and thats the bankers little golden boy.

What ever, Rudd got knifed because the electorate turned off the incompetent fool. They were headed for election defeat and moved in a put the dud out of his mysery.

THen lowered the bar further with Juliar.

Dress it up any way you want.

Rudd got outed because of his personality and not his competence as PM.

    Again WHATEVER!

His popularity was in the toilet.

He was a failure of a PM that didn't last a term, and has no support inside the party.

Dress it up anyway you want.

This is the problem, he was judged by the electorate (and his own party) not on his policy success or failures but on his alleged personality deficiencies. The media was responsible for his downfall. The pity of it is he would have been one of the best PMs of all time in my opinion. He would have turned the mentality of the electorate around given enough time, saying he was a failure is inaccurate since he didnt even last a term. The Labor party caucus should hang their collective heads in shame for replacing him with Gillard.

True, he was deposed because the media continued to publish polling that showed his popularity was dropping. However, this popularity was actually gaining ground when he was stabbed in the back.

He was only a member of the party. He was not the only person in government ( as you know). The policies you look at now are the policies he was approaching with the help of Gillard and Swan. Gillard saw an opportunity and leaped on it. Held elections in her honeymoon period and almost was outed.

Rudds failure as a PM is the fact he did not last the term, not his performance (although you could say his performance was a cause for Labors lose of popularity at the time). Because he did not last a term, he can be called a failure for that fact.

Yeah the media brought down Rudd but you have to ask yourself who owns the media?

I wonder why Rupert Murdoch is shutting down a 168 year old newspaper called "News of the World" is it because its independant? and doesn't answer to anyone! free journalism WOW that is a dieing breed almost gone from this Earth.

Yeah caucus voted Rudd out but who gave them the balls to sack a prime minister that gave us, all of us in Australian the smoothest ride in a recession in Australia's history.

    LOL

All you dupes need to go to the conspiracy section and tell everyone how the media was responsible for a drop in support from what was it? 70 odd % to the low 30's.

    RAOFPMSL at you dupes.

I even showed some people this and they are crying with laughter.

I told you all that dupes make me LOL.

    Thanks again, excellent :)

Perhaps you have missed the news about News of the World. Due to breaches of law and decency (considered by all) Murdoch has decided to close it. Bugging missing peoples phones is bad enough but deleting messages to make room for more, well you decide.

"lets not forget Kevin Rudds 42 billion stimulus package that went straight to the people of Australia."

I'm pretty sure that the 42 billion was and will be payed for by the people of Australia, as to who received that money,... anyone who works in the construction industry will tell you that they did very well out of it (higher charges due to massive demand), and the government contractors, the massive expenditure on imported power tools and building materials. The result being that every school in Australia (regardless of whether they are going to be closed down in a year or if they didn't need what they were being offered) now has a rush job hall or library which in any other building environment could have been completed with half the amount of money. Some of those rush job Builder project managed (as opposed to Architect project managed) buildings have already begun to fail, with the cost of fixing generally place on the taxpayer once again.
And then there were the cash handouts of almost $2000 per person, the Labor government buying votes. Thanks to Rudd a whole lot of pockets have been lined with gold, but only for the short term. We now have a MASSIVE debt and another tax on the way. And don't forget that HIS OWN PARTY ditched him before he had made it through even one term.
Kudos should go where it is due, but it is not due him.

    Hey pekopeko

It would of being really great if Kevin Rudd gave it to the banks right??

So the bankers could pay themselves a bigger bonus at the end of the year right, hell whats another couple of million on top of their tens of millions in salary and bonuses.

That would have been dandy indeed, and you wouldn't have seen a red cent.

I didn't get anything from that 42 billion, but i'm sure glad he gave it to the people of Australia intead of those (*)(*)(*)(*)ing bankers.
