MEDDLING eurocrats are demanding that Britain welcomes more immigrants to help the EU’s struggling economy, it emerged yesterday.
European Union Home Affairs Commissioner Cecilia Malmstrom says immigration and visa-free travel are essential to boost economic fortunes.

The Swedish politician has urged member states to welcome more immigrants to help deal with skills shortages, an ageing population and a declining workforce.

Further immigration will boost the economies of EU countries and benefit their residents, she went on. Ms Malmstrom’s comments come after Denmark brought in tougher border controls in response to growing immigration from North Africa.

She said: “The Commission has been in close contact with the Danish authorities during the past weeks to ensure that its plans would not endanger free movement and would fully respect EU legislation.”

Ms Malmstrom added that she welcomed “the clear commitment of the Danish authorities” to act in line with EU rules, including the Schengen Agreement – the deal under which most EU nations abolished their internal borders.
“The full respect of EU rules giving EU citizens and businesses the right to move freely will be ensured through continued monitoring and dialogue with Denmark,” she added.

Although Denmark has brought in tougher border controls, at the same time it remains one of the more accessible EU countries for immigrants with the right skills and qualifications.

Through its Green Card programme, non-EU migrants can obtain an extendable three-year visa that will allow them to work there.
I can't see this going down too well.:above:

No reference to Britain, and the quotes only directly address internal EU migration. Nothing to see here.

the Immigrants we receive have no skills, mostly are criminal, and will not benefit any form of economy for decades.

Only let in people we NEED, Sweden is already ruined by the likes of that moron.

That is a racist lie! Over 30% of immigrants in Ireland, for instance, hold professional qualifications.

Immigration from the third world will end up costing your society far more than it benefits. The insidious thing is that the true cost of immigration is not at all obvious.

Fine, bring in immigrants... But keep special separate records of how much taxes they pay, and how much the state spends to educate their children and provide subsidized medical care to them.

Immigrants are also several times more likely to commit crime, including rape.
Do you have any idea how much crime really costs Britain? The businesses and government need to hire extra security, incarcerating criminals is surprisingly expensive. There has been a huge rise in car thefts.

And let us not forget the most important problem- JOBS
Young adults in the UK are not finding decent paying jobs. Most are still living with their parents because they cannot afford to move out.
Why on earth would you want to bring in MORE immigrants to compete for limited jobs?

Oh yeah, more migrants pushing lousy British salaries down even further - that'll help consumer spending won't it?!

What is will help is the ruling elite make more money. And that's what it's really about. The Tory scum, like the Labour scum before them, are carving up the corpse of the British economy and feasting on it with their friends at the bank!

Britain in recession (not London though, the city that caused all this (*)(*)(*)(*)).

I recall several cases of muslim immigrants committing rape and using the fact that the women - and underage GIRLS - were fair game beacuse they weren't covered from head to toe in the hideously ugly muslim way, as an excuse in court.
The most famous one was the Lebanese Palestinian Muslim in Australia who caused riots because he GENUINLY thought the muslim mentality should be used in non-muslim countries as it is in the likes of Iran.
But its happened all over Europe
Then you have the likes of politically correct "Badgewearer" making excuses for them and claiming it hasn't happened as they defend the offenders !

Ironically, the BNP is being "black-listed" and politically persecuted like the communists once were.

"Muslims" (middle easterners) are a huge threat to the Northern European countries, as they will irreversibly change the ethnic makeup of the white homelands, eventually turning whites into a minority in their own ancestral countries.
They are overburdening the welfare/social services and NHS, which will eventually cause the collapse and ultimate privitization of government provided financial assistance. All the immigration is also a huge potential threat to the high wages the Scandinavians have fought for decades to achieve.

Sometimes wonder if the EU politicians are trying to use immigration as a tool to more strongly dominate the different nations under a single leadership. By diluting the ethnic/cultural makeup of the individual countries, the concept of national identity is also weakened. With national identities out of the way, they can much more easily take control.

It's really sad to see nations that were once proud symbols of white western culture be overrun like this. I can't even imagine what Europe will look like 20 years from now.

"There's a labor shortage alright... of workers willing to accept rock bottom wages while relying on welfare to supplement their pitiful incomes!"

Theres a SKILLED labour shortage, due to the fact Thatcher and Major's policies grovelled to business leaders and just about stopped companies being required to do apprenticeships.
Then theres the flood of foreign workers taking jobs from British workers (oh, it's happening all right) and the loathsome politically correct hypocrites siding with the foreign workers. (While the likes of the BNP and EDL ARE supporting the workers being denied) how the hell it hasn't dissolved into full scaled riots i dunno. If it had of been France/Germany/Italy/Spain/Whoever - it WOULD have.
BUT - the main point here is the betrayal by the laughingly misnamed "lefties" of our people by siding with foreign workers taking jobs off our own people.

No humour at all in this case.
But then, I'd be on the picket line with cheated workers, while you'd be yelling abuse at them, no doubt.
Are you doing it for Irish workers, by any chance ?
Or does it suddenly become different then ?

If there really was a shortage, it would be driving salaries in those positions up to very generous levels. The industries just want highly skilled workers, but do not want to pay for those skills.

In the USA, engineers frequently earned extremely good salaries in the 1970's. Salaries over 200k USD per year were not uncommon. Unemployment for scientists and engineers was only 1.2% at one point. Many people were going to school to become aerospace engineers.

But all this is no longer the case, and beginning after the ".com" crash in the early 1990's many engineers and scientists lost their jobs. Despite this, the technology industries still claimed there was a labor shortage, and successfully petitioned the government to bring in skilled workers from India and China. Although this is in the USA, the following video may be very relevant to Britains:
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYM8MIXCvQQ"]Lou Dobbs on Post Docs & PhDs Being Paid Peanuts & Exploited Through H-1B - YouTube[/ame]

Americans are no longer studying to become engineers and scientists, and there is a REASON for this- it is hard to find a good paying job in these fields!
Yet the government and industry say that the lack of engineers and scientists endangers America's competitive advantage, and they were even trying to educate MORE students in math and science (at least before the recession really kicked in).
And there are all sorts of false/misleading employment statistics. Supposedly the unemployment rate for chemists (in 2005) was only 4%. But most of those who were actually in the field could obviously see that un- and underemployment was around 25%! (there are some complicated technical reason for the big difference). Many chemists [chemical scientists] with years of experience were unable to even get an in-person interview with any employers! Yet the industry said there were not enough chemists!
The same phenomena could be observed with nursing. Many hospitals refused to take on graduates from nursing programs without real job experience, despite the supposed "shortage". One hospital in the USA (just outside San Diego, CA) sent a lobbyist to try to get access to more cheap nurses from the Phillipines. The CEO said he could not find enough job applicants, but a congressional investigation revealed the hospital was paying its nurses only 9.60 USD per hour, which is little above the minimum wage in that state! No wonder he could not find any nurses willing to work for his hospital!
