That took them long enough, considering that bin Laden was dead and buried at sea in the beginning of May. They're also making a big deal of launching this in mid-Ramadan. While escalations of jihadist hostilities during Ramadan are commonplace, the members of al-Qaeda in Iraq can't call themselves The Punctual Jihadists here. They would be out for slaughter anyway, of course; bin Laden is the excuse du jour, and invoking him is an attempt to rally support. Their aim remains the fundamental aim of jihad in all its forms: to impose Islamic law. "Al-Qaida in Iraq: 100 attacks to avenge bin Laden," by Qassim Abdul-Zahra for the Associated Press, August 20 http://news.yahoo.com/al-qaida-iraq-100-attacks-avenge-bin-laden-111715889.html
Like an alcoholic or crack addict who burned all his family bridges. The desperate taliban and alqeda will continue to do what they do. That is to brainwash the poor and dumb via religion and target others, and calim to be the victims of opression. This type of thinking has been going on since there were humans on the earth. And, it will continue as long as the conditions of religion can influence lunk heads and fools.
Fallujah falls to jihadists... Al-Qaeda-linked force captures Fallujah amid rise in violence in Iraq January 3,`14 A rejuvenated al-Qaeda-affiliated force asserted control over the western Iraqi city of Fallujah on Friday, raising its flag over government buildings and declaring an Islamic state in one of the most crucial areas that U.S. troops fought to pacify before withdrawing from Iraq two years ago.
This was an obvious inevitability upon the withdrawal of U.S and allied troops, in fact many predicted it and expected it....myself included. Regardless of the country in this region, there will be violence and dissent. Personally, I hold little hope for the immediate future of Iraq, Syria, Sudan....or pretty much any of the Middle Eastern countries until Islam somehow manages to quit killing itself from within, and taking everyone around it down in the process. The best possible action from western society is no action at all....just stay as far away as possible, and let them kill each other as they have for thousands of years.
Jihadis armed to the teeth... Is the Sunni/Shiia equivalent of the Crusades... Former NATO commander warns of wider war in Middle East January 20, 2014 ~ NATOs former top military commander has warned that the widening sectarian conflict in Syria and Iraq could engulf a broader region in the Middle East, just as the religious wars in Europe did in the 16th and 17th centuries.
Here we go again... UN SAYS IRAQ VIOLENCE KILLED 799 PEOPLE IN MAY Jun 1,`14 -- Violence has claimed the lives of 799 Iraqis in May, the highest monthly death toll so far this year, the United Nations said on Sunday, underlining the daunting challenges the government faces as it struggles to contain a surge in sectarian violence.
It's easy to condemn all Muslims. Because the only Muslims I hear are the ones who want to kill anyone who isn't a Muslim. I don't hear the other Muslims condemning them for their stoning of women, refusing to let women drive, refusing to let women go to school, or worse for engaging in jihad. It makes it hard to not condemn all of them and if they want us to recognize the fact that there are good Muslims then it's about time they start proving that they in fact do exist.
