Even those on entitlements are starting to reject Barack Obama. He is a failure.

    My Prediction:

Obama won't even be on the ticket in the General Election. I suspect we are going to see Hillary Clinton who has been ridiculously quiet show up to "save the day".

It'll never happen, unless of course Obama willing quits. I doubt his ego will let him do that. And it Hillary challenges him in the primary, blacks will stay home in the general. She'll have no chance and destroy the democratic party forever.

My sentiments exactly. In fact, I've come to the conclusion that congress' ratings are so low because the same 38% who approve of Barack, blame congress of all his screw ups. Without them, congress approval would be around 50%... which seems about right.

I think Obama will always have the black vote.

Add to that the most hardcore leftwing guilt-ridden whites and his bottom end should be about 32-34%.

So Obama is getting very close to having no support outside of blacks and the most extreme leftists.

Congress will always have low approval ratings. They're judged differently. They're too conservative, they're not conservative enough. They will never win. Whatever they do will only appease a small portion of the electorate. It's just the way it is.

Wouldn't be the first time. Carter still laments Kennedy running against him in 1980.

 Garek, my favorite character from DS9

I am shocked that Obama is that high too - until you break the numbers down. you see there is one demographic slice of the political pie that still gives him passing marks up into the 80% range. Blacks. If the Black portion of the sample were normalized to reflect average Democrat constituencies - Obama's numbers would be down in GW Bush territory - low 30's.

If Obama were white, there would for sure be a primary. But there is no possible chance the democrats will oust the first black president.

you are probably right - I wonder if there is any way we can convince John Huntsman to switch parties (he really is a Bill Clinton style Democrat and doesn't fit in anywhere in today's GOP), and run against Obama as a Democrat?

Remind us of who the main candidates were in the 1996 primary against Clinton.

Or the 2004 primary against Bush.

neither Clinton in '96 nor Bush in '04 were as weak as Obama is going into next year's elections.

the correct analogy is the '80 race between Carter and Kennedy.

Clinton's ratings were 6 points higher than Obama's at this point in his presidency.

    Carter was 8 points lower.

In May 1980 Carter was 20 pts ahead of Reagan - the probable Republican nominee

Clinton always had great approval numbers, up until 1998 and Monicagate.

    Source?

Clintons poll numbers were frequently below 50% in his first term. They were stronger in his second term.

Just pointing out that the person is different, the times are different.

Clinton moved to the center and worked with the GOP congress to balance the budget

Carter, well carter just sucked as bad as Obama.
