FOX is saying its a six but the exact location seems to be in question as the folk who report such things (in DC) seem to have lost communications...Seems to be panic all over the East Coast.

Turn on the news...they seem to be settling on a 5.9 and, bcause no one has decent communications in the area, damage is unknown except in DC where damage appears minimal.

IRIS Seismic Database reports a 5.9 magnitude at 1km Depth at 1:51 pm EST

I live in Cincinnati and it shook my whole apartment building. I was walking across the room when it hit and had to sit because I thought I was getting dizzy, but it wasn't me it was the apartment rocking back and forth and I live on 2nd floor.

All in all, whatever the final scale maybe, the powers that exist are going to have to perform structural integrity for all federal, state, county, and municipal buildings.

One good thing...more jobs. Giggle, Obama said he was going to create jobs but come on now....giggle.

I have been in a couple of quakes. Once I was laying on the couch, early in the morn, the plant hanger above me was swinging back and forth. I wasn't frightened. I just watched it swing in case it fell.
All the sudden my Husband came out in a panic. Holy s**t woman, think we just had an earth quake. I replied "ya think?"....giggle.
I can be a bit of a smart azz sometimes. I always say it is better to be a smart azz than a dumb azz.

    Hope everyone is OK.

    What area was this in?

Some government jobs could be created from this but there is no immediate damage announced yet

they have soft ground on the west coast so the quakes there are not felt as hard as the quakes on the east coast because the soil is harder.

How many East Coast cities have been destroyed by earthquakes in the last century?

that would make the soil in the east coast hard because it has never had earthqakes.

in the west the soil is soft due to many quakes so the devastation is not as bad
