Well, what is the American Dream? For you what means search the American Dream? What does it mean? Do you think that it always has meant the same? Do you think that should be recovered the old meaning if there was a different?
The American Dream is being able to make it here from poor to rich no matter the creed and stuff. Really, it's a stupid dream because we're nowhere near the best place to go from poor to rich. There are tons of easier places. The American Dream is pretty much a false dream.
The American dream is to live in a place that protects ones liberties and private property rights and prevents Government intrusions on that liberty so that we are free to pursue our own varied interests. This is why millions have come to America from all over the world; they were tired of Governments who trampled those liberties.
Please list those places that protect individual freedom, liberty and private property rights better than the USA.
Wrong. The American Dream is about oppurtunity. The ability for poor to become rich through hard work and dilligence. The dream is about being able to own property and to become prosperous. The American dream is about the freedom to choose what type of life is most fulfilling for yourself.
Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. What makes a body happy varies from individual to individual. One thing it never said was, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness if you can afford it. This is where it gets a little confusing for some.
I find that statement and consensus from you liberals that dreaming is vacuous to be disengenuous, since you libs has always lived in a fantasy world where Orwellian utopians drove your very existence.
Thats what it has become. IF you can't afford it well to the **********s you should be living on the street dying from disease and starvation because you cannot "pay" to stay well fed and healthy.
Originally the American dream was simple: Owning a land to autoproduce for yourself and being able to have a family.
The "American Dream" is more of a post-WWII concept centered around the growing middle class. Now as the middle class starts to fall apart, it's people clinging to the idea that individuals like themselves deserve it while people unlike them do not.
It changes like the weather. Of late it has been to destroy the Democrats ideal as being the destruction of the US itself. I didn't know that until I joined this forum. As if Republicans had no part in it!
Thanks for the gesture but I never dream; I happen to live in a real world full of real people, at least they're real here at my gaited community.
Of course! Republicans have never made mistakes all of their ideas are flawless and will instance overnight create 10 million jobs!
Java; In the definition of the American Dream by James Truslow Adams in 1931 (long before WWII) , "life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability or achievement" regardless of social class or circumstances of birth. The idea of the American Dream is rooted in the US Declaration of Independence (also much before WWII) which proclaims that “all men are created equal“ and that they are "endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable Rights" including "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." No guarantees just a level playing field, especially when it comes to interference by the governing body (one of the major problems plaguing this country today) as well as the removal of tyranny as an obstacle and servitude as an only option.
This message is from Martin Luter king and inflames the american habitants to work together to have better society in the future. At this point,i have to say that this important idiom must get everyone's attention.A dream is the first step on the way to success. For making the dream come true, the person who carries the dream has to be open minded, without this, his chance of success becomes lower.
I do not vision any opponents; at least not any unless obama wins a second term, in which case I will be heading up the gun loving populace of America to take him and his socialist buddies out with America's second revolution. "Imagine no Liberals"!
