I am becoming increasingly concerned about the mind- set of some American citizens and their ability to reason. I'm sure that with this opening sentence someone has already labeled me. Using terms such as "citizen"; "patriot"; "American" and the like are now perceived by certain Americans to be negative. I am an African American who voted for Barack Obama in 2008 based on my evaluation of his candidacy, what he stood for, and my belief that he could do what he said he would do. I have a genuine like for the President, which has nothing to do with my evaluation of his success in office thus far. The two points are mutually exclusive. I know how to separate out my emotional connection to him and my logical assessment of his performance. Because I am not happy with his job performance, I run the risk of being called a sell out, disloyal and whatever else. Can't wait to be called a "racist"!! I really don't understand this phenomenon. For any white person who consciously voted for Obama, and doesn't vote for him again the "R" word automatically applies to them. In my professional career I have terminated a number of people I truly liked. Termination became necessary when sub-standard job performance jeopardized the stability and success of the business. The issue of poor job performance was always the driver and in most cases the person being terminated knew that his work performance was unsatisfactory. Feedback was always offered long before the termination and an improvement plan went into affect. The mid term elections and the recent decisions in NY-9 and Nevada can be viewed as performance evaluations for the President. He has made a conscious decision not to accept or listen to the feedback. If he is not re-elected in 2012 he will have a very difficult time accepting the fact that he himself was the reason he did not get re-elected. Mike T. Becket, MA
Well, I hope when you're re-hiring folks to fill those positions, you slash the starting wage, and demand they not have a life, and accept a salaried position (so they are free to work all the OT you can force them to without paying them any OT). The important thing is that you're still employed.
