.... for the first time since the late 18th century.

Then it was democracy, inspired by the political thinkers and law makers of the American revolution.

Now it is a revival of democracy and democratic ideals inspired by common men who, for over a century, have seen their liberties eroded by a minority of others who live solely by greed, avarice and exploitation.

I have no doubt capitalists like JP Morgan are donating feverishly to police forces all over the world in an effort to contain and eliminate this movement.

But, in Britain, even its government has now been sufficiently embarrassed by revelations of corruption and complicity in American Big Money endeavours to monopolise governments across the globe, that it is introducing measures to remove its influence from the political process.

Thanks to the new Americans, we are seeing something inspiring.

Of course, what comes out of the British prime minister's mouth is not too different from what comes out his nether end.

But his respiratory noises are possibly less sulphur-laden.

Actually, the American revolution was inspired by the French. The US Constitution was inspired by the Franch also.

Actually you were pretty late in the civil rights movement. Most countries had done it by then.

When was slavery abolished again? I think only South Africa trailed you...

Sorry, but it was a Spanish initiative. The 15th October has been prepared before the born of Ocuppy WallStreet. But whatever, it is good that people is starting to be conscious what is going on in the world.

    And Australia. Google "Blackbirding".

Where people from island nations were taken, often by force to work on sugar plantations in Queensland. The practice was finally stopped in 1901.

Wrong order, though it's doubtful the American revolution did much to spark the French revolution other than make France's finances worse and show that it was at least vaguely possible to overthrow the monarchy and keep it gone. That said, the French Revolution was caused mainly by internal factors, and both revolutions drew their ideals from similar sources.
